Dear lord, Toyota. Is leaf spring technology too complicated for you? I sense some real slipping over there.

Nah every model of truck has owners that deal with it all the time... only difference is 3rd gen owners think they're special and love to cry about it.

I've had a crap ton of leaf spring vehicles in my lifetime and nary a one was noisy. I was also a Chevrolet tech for almost a decade. Same.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
My Dakars squeak. Took them about 2 months to start. They have the teflon thingies in between the leafs. I'm not that bothered by it as I have a high pitched rattle somewhere underneath that is only intermittently present when stopped, idling in drive with foot on brake. Hard to locate by myself. I'll deal with the springs after I find and kill it.

Many manufacturers place teflon pucks between springs so it's not metal on metal. It ain't rocket science.

Mine were squeaking horribly. Come to find out the teflon spacer fell out. Replaced it with these and quiet as a mouse.

You fail at logic, I can find plenty of tacoma owners that have never dealt with it too does that mean you're lying??

Want to bet $100 I can't find chevy owners with the same issue?? Meh fuck I won't take your money here they are:

As I’ve stated before, majority of squeak I’ve seen are because of the leafs flexing and rubbing against the side of the clip/clamp itself, and not leaf on leaf. Seen it on a handful of 3rd gens including mine, and it’s fixed it instantly. If you add grease between leafs and continue to off-road, you’re just asking for it to return. Pressure wash the whole area, check the clamp gaps and clean the area, use tiny amount of grease between the clamp sides and the leafs, and it very may well take care of you squeak, without turning your entire leaf pack into a dirt magnet.

I dunno man I've been doing the whole power wash, PB blast, white lithium grease for over 10 years and its always worked for me on all my trucks. Do it on average of about once a year and even with multiple trips to the mud in between it takes a lot of offroading before they start to make noise again.

But if you can get away with just cleaning then even better.

In my case it’s fixed all of my of my Tacoma leaf squeaks over the years. Toyota uses a slightly different clamp that tend to trap dirt and sand extremely well. I’ve wheeled my trucks in Alaskan glacial silt (worst crud ever), and mostly sand/dirt here, and it’s seemed to always work. I used red and tacky since it seams to hold better. Only spot on the leaf pack I’ve had to grease, usually at 5k intervals when I’m under the truck anyways. Even using a scrap piece of hdpe plastic inside the clamp gap will fix it, but grease seems to stay better.

Hmmm I'm gonna give this a shot next power wash I'm about due, especially after my desert trip this weekend hoping to find some mud :D:mudding:

I've honestly never NOT soaked them in grease after a good cleaning so maybe I've been over doing it all this time. :notsure:

I think I’d rather spend $3 on a cheap beer, the dealer fixed it with more than just grease thankfully and hasn’t made the sound since

Is the squeak an issue for the longevity of the truck? It just started last week.
