Might still be third party through fidelity... some talk about this is you are part of the Toyota south east dealer network. I'm not 100% certain on what qualifies anymore as third party, but again, pretty sure the only factory extended warranty through Toyota direct caps out at 8 years.

Are they extending the factory for the 7 years or does it run concurrent with the factory warranty? If so they are only extending the warranty for 4 years.

 

The only time you'll need an extended warranty is when you don't have it.

 

I was offered a 10 year warranty last year when I bought my Tacoma and when the finance guy got down to $1,800 I became interested and asked to see the paperwork. I read the warranty and declined his offer due to the verbiage leaning heavily towards Toyota. My dad always buys extended warranties when ever offered, appliances, vehicles, exercise equipment, you get the point. Sometimes he has came out ahead, sometimes he didn't and the vast majority of the time he didn't its with his extended vehicle warranty. The warranty I was offered was Toyota Extra Care Platinum.

My dad isn't nearly as handy with a wrench as I am and that being said he feels more comfortable with buying the warranties. As for myself it depends on what the problem is as to if I'm going to fix it or pay to have it fixed. Websites like this are a blessing to people. We can research our problem and ask for advice if need be. I'd rather go this route then to pay for a warranty that may or may not cover the problem(s) I'm experiencing. Sometimes it's easier to negotiate with a terrorist than with a warranty company over a claim.

 

Yep, sometimes it just works out great. I recently got my transmission replaced under a Toyota Extra Care Platinum extended warranty (with only a month left). It was very smooth and simple.

What I read said you have 30 days to cancel. Perhaps it varies by state law and or warranty company?
