As a geophysicist myself (who also works for USGS), I'm not that heart broken about it. This is why we take measurements and record them. Pretty sure I've met David (from the article), he's out of the Menlo Park office.

I think I've only been on one or two surveys where all the survey benchmarks that were used during a previous survey were still intact. Inevitably, someone runs over it with a firetruck, shoots it, paves over it, etc... I'm pretty sure they've made repairs to the bridge in Parkfield. At least I HOPE they repaired it!

Just got back from riding my bike/work. Contemplating whether or not to continue writing a paper or wait until later.

I wouldn't put a reserve. All Toyotas crossed the block for more than 10 grand today anyway. But I'm not there to sell

I'm finally getting some decent weather in Sacramento. Should be clear at least through wednesday. The near constant rain, or at least rain on the weekends was getting annoying. Rain when I'm stuck in an office, I don't care, but leave me my weekends!

Same. Trails have been "closed" for like 2 weeks here, just opened yesterday. Having a new bike meant I got desperate a few times and went out on some of the less soupy trails, and other people had the same idea so I feel less bad about it. Hate having 4 days of rain at 40 degrees, 1 day at 70 and sunny, then 4 more rainy days. Been like that for about 2 solid months now.

Yeah, it was getting old. Went for a MTB ride with my son on Sunday, and everyone else has the same idea.

I play around with telescopes too, and inevitably, any time you buy a new widget or an eyepiece or whatever, it's cloudy that evening.

New bike? 2 months of rain. Thanks jerk.

    :D

Yeah Ive gotten real good at washing the NC clay off my bike these last few weeks. I dont even think the trails society here cares anymore lol. They have to know people are riding right around there stupid little closed signs on the rare sunny days. Judging by the amount of tracks that did go around, its a lot lol. I will walk around the real muddy parts though. My WTB trail bosses dont do well in thick mud.
