I think the name "Go fast campers" is what throws people. But "Go Fast Hard Shell Roof Top Tent, Slimmest Design on the Market, Fastest Opening and Closing, with Secure Aluminum Basement Storage, Modular Bed that you can Stand Up In and Still the Lightest System on the Market" would have been a little too long. It's still just a roof top tent. It's not a hard shell camper. From what I can tell so far, it's way better than any ground tent or roof top tent I have ever owned.

I plan on using my zero degree sleeping bag inside or my double width zero bag if I feel like hauling that thing around. Basically still tent camping but much more comfortably. Same as I did with my RTT and my ground tents.

 

Is your velcro sticking well to the tent material? I cant get it to stick well.

 

Exactly. The GFC is basically replacing my last RTT but now I can enter the tent from the inside of the bed, walk around and have secured storage. Plus, the fabric is so much thicker than any RTT fabric I've seen that it's as close to a hard side camper as you can get. For the offroading and camping I do (As far from the nearest human being as I can) this is exactly what I want. My offroad teardrop was awesome but I ended up on way too many trails I shouldn't have gone down with a trailer in tow. The GFC will make that a non issue.

 

Anyone running OME HD Dakar leaf pack with the GFC to take care of the sag? I have no intention on doing a full lift just yet but don't want a huge, weird looking rake to my truck.

I'm running the latest OME Dakar non-HD pack with the overload removed. Rides level loaded for camping or a dump run, stock amount of rake empty.

 

The last ground tents and RTTs I used never let wind in.

 

Mine OMEs are sagging pretty bad with the camper and drawers. Im going to add the extra leaf to make it the same as the heavy pack. Hopefully that gives me a more factory rake.

 

Here's a simple ghetto fix. The round foam insulation is available at any hardware store in variety of diameters. If the breeze is disturbing you, just take a minute to stuff this in. Another option would be to wait for the GFC tent insulation kit.

I could have sworn that I read a post the other day about GFC adding velcro to the rear large opening, and was planning to add it to the windows also. This post talked about someone camping with Wiley in heavy winds and the windows/door seemed to be an issue. I remember if referring to Wiley agreeing? Of course I can't find the post now but did read it a day or two ago. Anyone know if this is the case?

I also noticed from some of the interior photos that some of the snaps on the tent seem to be tighter and better fitting than others. From some of the shots on here it seems there is a bit of inconsistensy on the fitment of the tent material to the frames. It would seem the tighter the fit the less air flow would come through in the wind.

I believe there is also an insulated version of the tent being tested also. But, I have not seen much about it. I am hoping to block out as much wind as possible as many spots I go to are windy. Especially here in NM in the spring.

 

I think i'm going to order some of that foam and better velcro. I'll see if that works. They have to be seeing the same issues, I cant imagine them missing it somehow.

 

Gotcha. I'm going to disassemble my drawer system and make it smaller and lighter. That with the new leaf pack, I should hopefully be good. With the factory leaf it doesn't seem to be sagging that bad at all. OME HDs should help either way
