I use recycled peanut oil from the donut shop. It’s terrible performance but smells awesome!

Amsoil is the best. I am buying 5/30 because I live in a warm climate but even if you use 0/20 it is the best available.

Idemitsu 0W-20 is identical to OEM spec and comes in 5 quart jugs, which I find more convenient. Watch it on Amazon and buy several when it gets cheap.

My third gen prefers slick 50 so I top it off with 7 quarts and change it every 50,000 miles. Never had a problem.

277,000 miles on my Honda Civic, bought it with 72,000 miles, and have run Mobil 1 since that day in 2011, the engine is still rock solid, I'll be putting Mobil1 in my new Tacoma and doing 5,000 mile changes.

I have run Mobile 1 (Full Synthetic) oil in all of my vehicles for years with 5000 miles between changes. I recently switched to Amsoil Signature series (100% Synthetic) because of the lower volatility. I go 10K with the Amsoil though. I'll probably run the Toyota filters on the Taco, until the warranty is up, but Mobile 1, Purolator Pure One, K&N, have all been my filters of choice so far. There are plenty of good oils and filters out there. I'm intrigued by the Pensoil Ultra Platinum oil, but so far, the 0W-20 is more expensive than the Amsoil Signature.

Do you remember the displays with gears you to turn to show how thick it was and how well it stuck to the gears?

Aye! You are right! I must be getting “old” and mixing up memories.

I actually use Mobil 1 - 0w-20 in my taco with a high quality filter and change it myself every 10k.
