TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

What is this bypass you speak of? I’m at 80k+ miles now and that stupid air injection thing bothers me.

 

Last I asked them they had no idea if their system even worked and haven't returned my emails. Please keep us posted on this. Very enticed to do it if it works.

 

Do the umi filter mod. By taking that foam piece out, it prevents the foam from breaking down and breaking the fins of the fan in the air pump. This will prevent the broken pieces from making their way to the valves

 

@12TRDTacoma theres a warranty enhancement on entire air pump system for ur truck. For the p2442 code. Bring to dealer and have it fixed for free lol. If u want to pm me ur vin i can double check in the morning to make sure ur truck is apart of it.

 

I heard that bypass system is hit or miss. Toyota also has a full recall of that stuff for the 12 and 13’s

That is only part of the problem man. The filter I pulled out of mine was fully whole. The problem is the system runs with a torch in front of its face. Seals melt making the valves jam up because the rubber seal disintegrates inside the valves.

 

It came from me contacting them directly. They seemed to be very uncertain on their set up. I was willing to give them money to cancel the underhood spaceship. This was July I last heard from them.

 

No I know there is. 10 year or 150K. I never got a letter, but at this point it is a flawed system which is only destined to either make my truck catch fire, or get rear ended from going into sudden limp mode. Both of which is bulllshlackaah.. I would rather eliminate it completely and be done with it.

 

Is the 2012 different that the 2013?

Yes it is. 2013 runs after the vehicle has been shut down to eliminate the blow torch effect. 2012 no matter either before or after warranty runs while the truck is on.

 

Damn California and their pollution.

 

Same.....in 14 they made an improvement that should’ve solved the problem.

 

Good to know. Thanks for bringing it up. I'd like to eliminate it. Does it allow full removal of the unit or just disable it while leaving it in?

 

My air injection is working fine. Perfect time to amputate it. Why wait til it breaks?

 

It was a silent implementation at that too because they wanted to try to screw the 2012 owners.. that ended up biting them in the ass because now they extended the warranty for that stuff instead of making the system work correctly.

It disables it while leaving the unit in place looking like it is all hooked up just fine.

 

You know why they are not sure if it would work for yours @White lightning boosted, it's because ththe strategy for later models are different and it's even highlighted on their site that on the Tundra's which have received the ECM update which cycles the valves differently it will not work. Yours operates similar to the Tundra's with the ECM update.

 

So in your opinion should I not pursue this?
