Sounds the same as me. The Tacoma is paid off and I have a Mustang GT in storage until the spring. The Mustang is my fix for speed.:burnrubber:

Exactly this. I owe my savings account a lot of money that I will put back into it over the next 2 years.

Always had a mortgage...have about $150K equity on a 400K house...still a healthy balance. If the wife would let us, I’d sell the house, use the equity to buy a very decent house for less than 150k. We could save and pay cash for a similar 400k house in 7-10 years if she would just have the foresight to live simply for a while. Instead I’ve got 25 more years of payments.

We did that twice when the markets went crazy. Sold a home in San Diego in the 90s and bought two 120K homes in Las Vegas for 40K down. Sold both homes in 2005 for $590K Profit during the home bubble in Vegas. Moved to SCarolina, had a home built and have been cash and carry since. Property taxes are paid with couch change. LOL

I drove shitty old vehicles while I built my house so that helped a lot. I hadn’t had a car payment in about 4 years before buying the 4Runner and with the super low interest rates it just made sense to keep that money liquid

I financed it originally (october 2017) quickly realize I was wasting money, paid it off December 2018.... so yes you are technically correct.... but it is paid for in cash. I should have done it from the get go.

It was a good bonus year at work. Taco should be paid off by October, and house by March 2021. It will feel good to be debt free, but I want to buy a 2021 Shelby GT500 Mustang, so it might not last long lol.

If I didn't get 1.9% I would've bought a Corolla straight cash instead of my Tacoma lol.

With median household income somewhere in the lower $60k per year range, many people cannot save up 20% to put a downpayment on a house, much less save the $200k+ it takes to buy one outright in most cities.

But they can spend $ on cable, internet, cell phones, vacations, restaurants and car payments. With prioritizing it’s amazing how much you can save with a modest income and still have fun along the way

I hope when I'm debt free in a couple years, I'm not a douchebag about it. Everyone chooses their own path in life.
