Who else treats their truck like royalty?

Every morning between 5:30 and 8:00am it will rain and every evening around 7:30-10:00pm it will rain and in the rainy season it just rains everyday for 4 months lol.

Just like expensive oils and excessive oil changing, make the non techie feel better. Because it is easy to do.

Don’t forget to add those huge nitrogen molecules to your tires for peak rolling performance, while that ECT Button is religiously pushed in for extra psychological performance.

Cat back exhaust and cold air intakes will add 15% psychological sound performance as well.

These are nice folks trying to do good, they even treat their ride to premium gas on occasion just because.

It’s clear this thread is divided by those who care for their paint and those who don’t.

I just feel like it’s important to protect the paint as long as possible on any car. I mean I’ve had some shit cars before but a 35k-40k truck is something I’d rather keep looking nice even if it is a truck.

My 84 supra looks like crap up close, dents scratches, black primer ehh I still love driving it.

A simple wax a few times a year can make a huge difference. I kept my wife’s 2005 XTerra looking like new until 2008 when she went to D.C. for a year. Came back like it sat in Fred Sanford’s driveway.

I don't think it's quite that binary. I care about how my truck looks and of course I don't want to see it turn into a pile of horse turd. I just bought a black SUV and I've had dark blue/black cars in the past so I know all about the importance/requirement for regular aesthetic maintenance. But at the same time, there is definitely a point of diminishing returns. I think a lot of the things people say they do to their trucks (stress the word: truck) in this thread border on silly, to be honest, especially the myths around engine warmup, 5k oil changes, etc. This is not the 70's any more (my firs car was a Toyota Corona, I know all about push start [not the button kind] and engine warm-up).

I just don't see the point of going through so much trouble for something that by design is meant to be hit over and over and over by millions of small sharp objects when you... you know... drive it.

 

Oct 13th. Now has 1700 miles. Sits in the shop, a black hole for my money. Said I'd never pay $60,000 for a truck. And I won't either. At least, not all at one time. I have other transportation. It can sit out there until I get farther down the build curve. Just finished Xpel front end job, CQuartz coating. This is going to be that last truck I buy. Got to last 30 years. Going to take care of it.

Just a lowly 2nd gen here, but for me I look at my tacoma as not just a means of transportation but a tool. Personally I believe that some small scratches and dents give a truck character. It actually means that it is being used for its intended purpose. I wouldn't take a Porsche 911 Carrera offroading but I also wouldn't drive my truck to its limit at the Nurburgring. That being said, I do live in MA and do take it through the carwash every week only to rinse off the salt from the roads and coat the undercarriage with fluid film to increase the likelihood of the frame not rusting and lasting until my daughter gets out of college in 10 years......

 

I think it depends on where you are in life . When I was young work kids the woods no time . Now I don't want to get the underside all packed with mud that will never come out so I try to keep the top and bottom clean .

 

I mean, we're on a forum dedicated to Toyota trucks... I think we all are dedicated to our Toyota trucks!

 

If treating it like royalty means parking it outside 24/7 and washing it once a month whether it needs it or not then I do.

If it means keeping it in a garage every night, preening over it and giving it a full wash and wax at the first spec of dust then I dont.

 

I've been accused of babying my truck but people that know me know I've done that with just about any vehicle I've owned and actually liked. I've had a few beaters that I just drove the crap out of but that's another thread.

All that considered, I'm not afraid to use my truck. I haul stuff; I've had a 1/2 yard of river stone dumped in the bed (was watching the stars that day) and I've taken my Tacos hunting and fishing going over fields and rutty dirt roads. I clean it up real nice after such ventures which I guess one could say is babying to some extent. Don't feel bad if you take care of your belongings. More people should have that attitude.
