my extra can drive shaft has 4 U-joints. The 2 on the CV joint behind the center support bearing seek to be replaceable. The one at the output shaft and the axle appear to not be. Has anyone successfully replaced the front and rear U-joints on these axles.

As you can see on the CV joint part there are clips holding the joint in place.

They seem to be solid and don’t have any play when I apply pressure with a pry bar. I do get a slight whirling sound but it’s not obnoxious and very quite.

All these inspections are coming becaus I’m getting a clicking sound and I can feel it. It’s very hard to pinpoint. It could be the control arm bushing. The click comes randomly and sometimes on take off sometimes when changing gear. Odd I can’t specifically replicate it with any certain action that would allow me to narrow my search field. I just replaced the center support bearing again. Plus I know without a doubt I’m getting axle wrap from my shitty springs.
I know she’s old but she starts stops and drives straighter than a Porsche.

The clips are on the inside of those.

So, I attempted to replace my U-joints. What a pain. The Cardan joint is not serviceable. I had to take it to a driveline shop and they cut it up and made me a new drive shaft.

Moog makes a repair kit with the ball and seat. They are most certainly rebuildable, where you do think your driveline shop got one from :) If you go to the bottom of my post here, you'll see how one comes apart. For and toyota use the same type setup, but the part numbers will be different for the repair kit.

I guess it doesn’t matter now. I don’t have the tools on hand to fix something like that. U-joints I can do. I was ill prepared.

The driveline shop used non-oe new part. So I guess my cardan is custom . They did also say this one should last just as long of not longer than the stock one.
