Since I bought my truck a month ago, I’ve wanted to get rid of ALL the chrome & replace with satin black. I’ve already sprayed my bumper caps. So I wanted to finish the last of my chrome to black conversion (other than the headlights & fog lights, they are next) with the SR5 grille.

I took apart the grille & removed the chrome grille surround & painted it with Rust-Oleum bed liner spray. I also decided to smoke the chrome Toyota emblem with taillight tint & few coats of clear coat.

Since it has the TSS sensor, I knew I couldn’t really paint or modify it (prob could have done a few more coats, but didn’t want to over do it and mess up the sensor reading). So this works until I get my TRD grille.

I’m happy with the way it turned out in the interim.

Let me know what you think & what you’ve done.

I’ve covered my sensor with a sticker and it made no difference to the function . I wouldn’t worry about a coats of tint .

Oh cool. Yeah, I may go back & add a few more coats of tint to make it more smoked/darker.
