Haggard but perfectly running and driving 98 Jetta TDI. Got 49 MPG’s on my way home from picking it up :D

Needs some body work just to get it less “HEY LOOK AT ME” but besides that it’s a great running rig and beats driving my truck that gets 14 MPG

About the alignment conversation, I called Mule today, they’re about two weeks out for shop work and they charge $150 for an alignment. If you can time your projects to a date two weeks out it might be worth it to get alignments done at Mule since they have a lot of experience working on trucks like ours.

Do some hyper mile mods. I had a 90 corolla 5speed that just by using hypermiling driving techniques I went from 36mpgs to 46mpg combined. I'm sure if I ran skinny tires, lowered it and did some air dams I could have got into the 60 mpg range.

That's what I was originally looking for. Got impatient and bought a 2000 C230 Compressor. Fun car but total mistake. Current plan is to search for a TDI later this year.

I got lucky with this, i was Probably one of the first to respond on Craigslist. Granted it does have damage but for $600 i figured it was worth it.

I again will recommend Firestone lifetime alignment for 199. You can get alignment done every six months or 6000 miles for as long as you own the vehicle. I know the Renton Highlands location will do any custom alignment you ask for. Easy to get an appointment within a few days.

This is the best deal out there for sure, and I’d probably only go to the Renton Highlands Firestone for it, the other Firestone shops I’ve experienced, Rainer Ave (Renton) and Ballard never inspired me with much confidence in their work. Renton is completely disorganized and Ballard is so overbooked that they tend to rush their work. My friend Devin has a 1st gen and uses the Firestones closer to Lynwood and has had to go back in to get his alignments corrected, steering wheel not lining up and truck pulling to the right after an alignment. So if you’ve had consistent luck at Renton Highlands it’s worth it.

I didnt even know there was a limit to frequency. Also, I got mine on sale for $150 and have used it like five times. Solid buy for sure.

Last time I took my truck to Firestone in Everett they came out with numbers opposite of what I asked for, couldn't even turn without rubbing. And then within the first week something had come loose and my steering wheel was off by more than 30 degrees. I ended up getting a refund from them and went to a place in Snohomish that could hit good numbers... granted it cost $180 for the one alignment

Anyone have recommendations for a place south of Seattle to install new front shocks? I’ve never done it and don’t really want to rent a spring compressor

Edit: I already have 5100’s in my garage, 885 coils are coming in on Tuesday so I just need labor

Same. I have a free lifetime alignment and have needed to have one done for like 3 months
