Just wanted to post up here that if TW folks run into any mechanical issues, need a lift, a tow out of a snowbank, need tools or a helping hand while their up in the Lake Tahoe region, I live up here in Tahoe City and am always willing to help someone in trouble.

Have basic tools, no jack, lots of shovels and generally a good supply of beer.

Feel free to PM me if you get in a pinch, I check my emails pretty regularly.

    Cheers,

    Colin

I assume all the trails around Tahoe are completely snowed in and can't be accessed for a while? I went on Corral Hollow last summer it was great.

Many roads won't be fully accessible until mid to late July, although five, six years ago some Toys made it in past Gold lake in the Lakes Basin area the July 4 holiday, snow on the OHV road around the lake in a few places. It's too bad as many go around the snow messing up terrain when they are supposed to stay on a road or trail where permitted. I see motorcycles using hiking trails and going into lakes where it is clearly marked they are prohibited.

Wow that's too bad they aren't following the signs. Thanks for the update, I didn't realize it would be so late into summer before trails were accessible again.. I guess I should have enjoyed them while I could last year :)

Just assuming the area above/around the Lake is getting hit hard like Donner Pass. I used to hit snow while backpacking back in Desolation Wilderness in early August years ago, like in the 70's or early 80's above Schmidell.

Probably won't be accessible until end of June/July at this rate. Current state of the neighborhood I'm living in.IMG_5963.jpg IMG_5837.jpg

This is the NOAA weather for the Soda Springs area (Roughly Donner Pass). Looks like pretty light snow over the pass throughout the day Saturday/Sunday. Chain control will definitely be in effect, expect delays leaving Sunday afternoon. Would suggest leaving the Tahoe around around 6-630pm to avoid that mad exodus from the ski resorts at 4pm.

Wow. I guess I have to convince myself just to enjoy snow, since the mountains will have snow for a long time....

That's great. Reminds me of a cabin I'd stay at as a kid on the west side of Donner Lake. Loved climbing/sledding/causing trouble in those snow mounds.

My lady and I is celebrating our birthday, we got a cabin, a couple friends and a lot of alchohol waiting. If it is snowing, I was hoping to fish, hike, explore. If it is snowing maybe some type of snow activity like snow angels. I really dont know what to expect going out that way.
