I've done this a few times and my wife has also done this. You get ready to leave your truck. You push the button to shutdown the truck . As you leave you click on your remote to lock the truck. No noise and it does not lock the truck. Go back and get in to see whats wrong and the engine is off but the radio and lights are on. Restart and push the button again and its back to normal. If you don't push the button hard enough it will only stop the engine. STRANGE. I have other push start cars. They don't work like that. Comments?

Yeah, mine has never worked like that. Not sure there is pressure sensor built into the push-to-start button.

I have not had that problem with mine, and I dont push the button hard at all.
Also, just a quick observation/question, you said click the lock button on the remote. You are missing the whole convience of having push button start. Why not touch the handle to lock it?

I’ve never had that issue. How long do you press in the start/stop button when shutting it down? I do a quick tap and done.

You can even lock the door from the underside of the drivers door handle

I had the same thing when I first got my truck (first push-button start for me). Turns out what I was doing was accidentally 'double-tapping' the start button when I shut it off and then putting it back into accessory mode. Ensuring that I push the switch in the middle (pushing the edge seemed to exacerbate the issue) and using a short, sharp 'tap' to operate it have cured the problem completely.

If you go back to the truck and the radio and lights are on, it is most likely in the accessory mode. Are you sure you are not accidentally hitting the button twice?

First press should shut it off, second press (without foot on brake) will put it in accessory mode, third press (also without foot on brake) will turn the ignition on (all dash light will turn on).

As others pointed out and am guilty of occasionally. Double tap of the start button.

    Alternatively
you shut off truck without being in park, or the switch that detects the truck is in park is failing...

(If you shut off truck with auto shifter not in park, it will go to accessory)

As far as elegant explanations, I think double-tap wins.

I think the double tap theory is correct. The Taco start button is much more sensitive than other cars I've owned. I'll have to remember to be careful. THANS GUYS

Just saying, but this problem could be cured if they just had a big obvious light to tell you what mode you are in.
Yes, I have hit shutdown with the gearshift in D and then wondered what was going on.
