The 2010 Taco seriously lacks tie down capability in the bed of the truck. There are two light weights on the bed floor right and left near the tailgate and that is it. I want to add a few more. Any ideas on what to use, where to get them and where to mount them. I like the torqx bolts that hold the bed down and it looks pretty easy to spin them off and add some D rings but the rings need to have a single hole mount about 1/2" in diameter.

Go up to the "Mods & Tutorials" button (look up and right on your screen)

    Hit "cheap tacoma mods"

I think #2 in the 2nd gen section is how to add more D-rings

I must be feeling kind this evening.

I mounted two, along each side up by the cab. A 4" x 4" stainless backing. To me it makes a little more sense to have them up off the deck ..... and I didn't have to cut any holes in my mat.

x2...you will need a t55 for the bed bolts. If you buy army surplus d rings that come 5 a pack drill the holes out with a 1/2" bit and then you will have to grind down one side of the washer on each bed bolt almost flush with the bolt head to have it sit flush on the d ring when you bolt it back on the bed.

Thanks all for the good advice. New to the Taco and really like the TW crowd so far. I did order some D rings made for the Humvee from Army surplus warehouse. May have to finesse them to make 'em work but we'll see. Thanks again.

I did the army surplus ones and I couldn't be happier. With the proper tools it was a 15 minute job.

the ones you ordered fit the bed bolts perfect you just have to get the washer off the bed bolt. two easy ways. one is to take a dremel and grind down the ridges or i heard you can get a deep socket that fits over the head of the bolt and give it a good whack. they are strong and work great.

I put the Toyota tie downs in about the same place. They are nice to have. I put scuba tanks up against the front of the bed standing up and a good tie down from d-ring to d-ring holds them in place nicely.

I've read tons of stuff on these but I didn't see replacing those plastic ones in the bed rail with them. Is that easy? No extra hardware to get it into the track and work the same way?

    None (yet)
the socket trick only bent the big washer for me. I ground down the ridges on the bolt with my Dremel.
