I have an FJ case on the work bench right now along with a 3 link kit and all the stuff to SAS. The crawl box thing is my only pending situation. Decided not to SAS however. If I lived out west, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

So I'm piecing together a kit for my 3.4L 5 speed

    tcase adapter
    http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...se-adapter-kit-107531-1-kit-107530-1-kit.html
    dual case crossmember

    gears:
    http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/trail-creeper-4-70-t-case-reduction-gear-kit.html
So I'm assuming I would need to get a gear shifter as well, and the donor empty t-case from an 85 4runner? Having trouble finding the right shifter on their website (can't find it in the 1st gen section)

If I wanted to just order the whole thing already put together and ready to bolt up, would this be the ticket? I know that this one is of course more expensive. This one does seem to include a shifter. Would that mean I would just need to cut out the hole for the shifter, install the crossmember listed above and have the driveshafts modified and that's it?

Just seem to be selling complete units and the adapters from transmission to gear driven tcase.
But looks like a no go for Manual's at the moment.

I'd go with the assembled TG box with the 4.7s if your looking to stay Toyota vs. who knows how long of a wait for 5spds.
Also with an assembled box, you'll get the snap rings, seals, etc. that you would have to hunt down and buy seperate when pieceing together your own.

Main reason why I bought my Inchworm 2.28 box and then swapped over the Marlin Comp 4.7s.

hmm interesting. I figured all of these parts put together would be everything I need other than the donor box from an older yota.

Yeah, becomes very close. Probably start watching out for TG/LowRange % off deals and can probably get it cheaper then parting together.

Finishing up my crawlbox install with triple sticks. Went for a test drive yesterday. The crawl box works, 4wd selector works, but I can get the FJ case into 4low. I lowered the trans and adjusted the shift linkage once with no improvement. Ran outta time before I could try it again. It feels like either the shifter isnt going far enough forward or a detent isn't catching and holding it forward. the 4lo light does come on on the dash, even though its not engaged.

My first thoughts are to shorten up the linkage all the way and see if that helps. If that doesn"t I'll look at the placemement of the indicator sensor, maybe its in the wrong place (I remember there being 3 bungs for 2 sensors, maybe I have it in the wrong place)

anything else y'all can think of that I should check.

For the record getting to that shift linkage to adjust it is a pain in the ass.

I had an issue where the th case low shift rail was hitting the crawl box adapter and not going into the hole meant for it. Loosened mounting bolts and rotated the tcase until the low would engage. If u have to remount and reseal, I’d suggest having the shifter protruding out the tcase so they line up to the recess holes in the mounting adapter

So did they stop making the inchworm crawl box? The link on the OP is unavailable and a google search leads to nothing but adapter plates to use but have to source toyota gear cases.

Yup inchworm is no more. LowRange bought them out, then they sold what's left of the inventory and shortly after TG bought LowRange so now its TG and Marlin.

Damn all TG sells are adapter plates so I'd have to make my own and source a gear t-case and modify it all. Guess I'll join the long list of those waiting on MC

Advance adapters makes a Toyota gear case

Low range sales it also for a little cheaper last I loooked. U would have to source the guts for it but the case is available.

So for an auto I would need the 23 spline input gears and output along with the adapter plates from TG is that correct? Where would I source the plate to go to the transfer case?
    gears

Marlin would be my guess for the adapter from crawl box to tcase. And whatever bearings that are needed.

    I’m confused...you want a doubler with a 4.0/auto right?

Yeah same as the TG looks like there isn't an adapter to go to the chain case. So it would be putting the doubler in then an adapter then putting a full gear driven t-case. Although that may be pretty cool. Also kinda budget friendly since you can buy parts and pieces as you go and then assemble and install. Only issue would be drive shafts. All those bits and pieces may end up costing more than the MC unit itself

    What's the difference in this
    https://www.marlincrawler.com/trans...oma-2nd-gen/dual-case-tacobox-40-liter-1gr-fe
    and this
