What do you recommend as just an OEM alternative?

That's because you got the wrong ones. Those are for 1st gen Tacomas.

The equivalent ACDELCO Advantage is p/n 18A1616A

The diameter should be 12.9 to 13"

Ouch, this OP. Hopefully they take them back. If not then post them up for sale in the first gen section

It really depends on manufacturer specific standards, there are some really good major aftermarket brands that I would trust.

I agree - If it's a stock truck, stock wheels, no extra weight, he might be okay though. Anything like bigger wheels/tires, extra weight of bumpers, campers, etc and OP should be mindful to not brake too hard to avoid warping. When I bought my truck the front rotors were warped, stock rotors.

I went with the Stoptech cryo slotted rotors and the Stoptech TRD equivalent pads, almost 30k miles on them and have no complaints.

OEM. 96k on my rotors and pads. When I rotated tires last month they still had a shit ton of life on them.

You don't need to buy OEM to get quality. Look up Akebono. Akebono is a OEM japanese brake supplier to Toyota and many other manufactures. Some of the longest lasting OEM Brake Pads are manufactured by Akebono.(GM Trucks, Chrysler 300/Chargers) If you look at the OEM Brake pads from Toyota it will be stamped AK. AK stands for Akebono. I had these Akebono Rotors custom slotted from a buddy who does C&C work for my 5th Gen 4runner BBK conversion.
    From Akebono website.
Approximately half of all vehicles rolling off the assembly line are manufactured with Akebono brakes. Akebono has approximately 40% of the Original Equimpent market and is factory installed on 350+ models. It is our innate understanding of vehicle dynamics and braking requirements that enable us to provide the best brake solution for any vehicle, and it is what has made Akebono the largest OE brake provider in North America.

Centric is a good aftermarket option. Very pleased with the ones I put on my 1st gen.

If you need help getting Akebono Rotors let me know. Right now I only know 1 Distributor that carries them but they seem to be only available to Auto Shops that have accounts with them. This Distributor only deals with Auto Shop and not Part stores. But supplies do trickle out to other vendors and stores if you look hard enough.
