They are dropping the Prius C (the smallest model) in favor of the Corolla hybrid. The standard Prius has a strong following and the hatch design allows a lot more room than the Corolla. The Corolla hatch if made hybrid is rumored to be aimed at performance (doubtful IMO).

It is a nice vehicle but I think there are very few folks who would buy it in the US. I am totally sold on hybrids for business use as they have a significant savings in maintenance. MPG in my mind is an afterthought for hybrids (but I drive a car that gets about 30mpg - previously 36-40mpg). The upfront costs is the hurdle for marketing. I do not understand why Toyota does not have a vehicle like the Ford Transit - those vehicle are awesome for work use - FWD, 4 cylinder, unibody frame. A used Matrix might be a great deal (my Celica shares a lot of components with the Matrix so I'm very biased).

 

But my friend uses a Ford transit in his line of work he says it only gets 32mpg

 

Prius I'm driving gets 55 mpg I drive 340 miles a day at 10 bucks a day in gas

 

The other guy drives a volkswagen Jetta TDI he gets 44 mpg but he drives almost 450 miles a day to

 

Oh I didn't mean to say they were comparable in mpg. Nothing beats a Prius. I was trying to say for a simple mule, the Transit is pretty great.

 

That guy says they tried to pay him double for his tdi he says I'll.give it to you after you pry it from my cold dead hands lol he loves that car
