Can I rig the A TRAC option on my 08 Sport? Dont the Off Roads come with it and the sports dont but the option is always there right? I can hook up the mod myself if so. My buddy did this to his FJ.

I think it's a matter of if your vehicle has TRAC and it gets shut off when you turn on 4WD. If that's the case then I think there's a way to enable TRAC when in 4WD so you can engage the rear locker and the TRAC system will simulate a front locker. Is that what you're looking for?

Or are you trying to add it to a truck that didn't come with it from the factory?

Sounds like he wants to add it.

I do to. I have a tendency to be stupid and my tires don't always hook up.

Yes I want to add it. Like I said my friend did it to his FJ and the factory option was like 1K more or something and he just bought the button from the dealership and did it.

ATRAC = Adaptive traction control. This wasn't available on the Taco's until '09.

The mod your FJ buddy did is very common because all FJs come with ATRAC pre-wired. All you gotta do is buy the switch. Unfortunately this is not the case with the Taco's.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's probably more than a button. You probably need a wire harness and/or some kind of controller for it. Assuming it's not some kind of programming in the 4wd ECU itself or something like that.

ah. ok. But prior to 09 some still had TRAC as an option. On the ones that came with it 4WD or the locker (i forget) turned it off, and you could rig it to stay on with 4wd and rear locker to simulate being locked front and rear. Because it would transfer power from the spinning wheel to the one with traction (so it's more of an LSD for the front, but cheaper than doing a locker since it was just a switch wired in).

what if you buy an 09 sport (i dont think it has a-trac) Can you just put the switch in like the FJ and have the option then since the offroads have the option?
