BAMF no drill bolt on sliders

Wow they look beefy.What angle are those?Hopefully a few more weeks and I will be picking mine up.

@JLee. Thanks for posting the picture. I picked up my BAMF sliders from Jerry in early January this year and ironically I was just getting around to installing them tomorrow (taken me two months to find someone willing to help me install) when I saw this post. I too have a DCLB and my attachment hardware (especially the large plates) looks nothing like yours. Has me worried. Now mine is being put on a 2019 Tacoma and yours looks to be a 2017 but I was told there is no difference.

Do I need to get these updated mounting plates? Here is a picture of my hardware provided.

 

I’ll defer to @JLee but I’m guessing the new nut plates are something to streamline fabrication/reduce costs as it doesn’t involve a human and a welder. They can just laser cut the plates and holes and knock in the inserts. I slid the large nut plates into the frame to see how it fit and it also looks like it might make install a little easier since I don’t have to position the skinny nut plate. The tall plate puts the nuts right where you need them. I’m sure yours are plenty stout. I dropped my sliders and nut plates at the powder coater yesterday. Having it all coated textured satin black. Should be ready in a week or so and hope to have them installed in 2 weeks.

 

Thanks for the response. Yeah I agree I think the install will be much easier with the new nut plates. I put a set of Jerry’s sliders back on my 2016 and install was pretty easy except for having to wedge my arm down inside the frame rail rail to hold the skinny nut plate like the one I have in position. I almost lost my sanity trying to get those bolts to mount into that plate. Hoping it somehow goes easier this time and or I have better luck trying to get things to line up this time.

Anxious to see what the satin black powder coat looks like make sure you post up some pictures when you get your install done.

 

Will do. I was really shocked how burly these BAMF DCLB sliders are. I’ve seen some others in person and the BAMF design definitely has more beef than the RCI/CBI versions I’ve seen. Overkill for what I need but as they say, it is better to have and not need than need and not have...

Also, @JLee curious as to why the 80” sliders appear use closed box tubes from the frame plates to the square tubing rails, but the 96” sliders use an open U-channel with holes in the bottom. Probably save some weight and eased manufacture by integrating the gusset. Worried about rocks, mud and snow getting stuck in there over time. Going to make sure the powder coater doesn’t leave anything exposed in all those nooks and crannies.

 

Those large plates are just left over boxes of hardware from the Pelfrey auction. They have the same bolt pattern and we were out of our plates on your set. They are not a new plate they are just left overs that we acquired in the auction.

 

ALL of our sliders have used formed .188" plate legs for nearly two years.

 

Thanks @JLee for responding so quick. One more question, looks like my hardware set is missing the two 3/8thx 1.5” grade bolts, four 3/8 th washers and two 3/8th grade 8 nuts. Are these required for install on the DCLB SLIDERS.

 

Yeah the BAMF sliders are by far the beefiest sliders I have seen in person. Their great and saved my 2016 DCLB from body damage numerous times when I had it. It’s like mounting a steel truss to the side of your truck.

 

Good deal, thanks for the feedback. The local powder coater I’m using does quite a few sliders and when we pulled yours out of my truck they were shocked at how burly they are. Also funny they thought BAMF was short for “Bad Ass Mother F@&$er”. I’m sure you get that a lot though and your name choice was likely intentional.

Also, guess I technically have PelfeyBAMF hybrid sliders now. Nice to know I too benefitted from the auction.

Finally got my BAMF sliders mounted up today. Install went pretty smooth. Everything lined up just as designed. Fit and finish is superb. Only issue during install was getting my fat hands to fit down the boxed portion of the frame to hold the nuts in position to start the thread on the two front most bolts. Tough to do for me on the drivers side because of the locations of the brake lines on the inside of the frame. On the passenger side it is very easy and wide open much easier to do. Just have to be patient.

Otherwise all went well. And these things are beyond beefy. ALso the powder coat on these things is gorgeous. Gonna enjoy the finish until they get their first battle scars.

Feel so much better knowing they are mounted up and ready to protect the truck. Now I can really start hitting the trails without a worry about my rocker panels. Here are few photos. Thanks again to Jerry for a great product.

 

Is the wait time really 4 months for BAMF sliders?

What's the consensus on these working with a Mobtown transfer case skid plate?

 

Mine took 17 weeks (4 months, 1 week) but part of that was BAMF got a little sidetracked with the JerryBerryBought project, which I’m ok with. If you want short lead times, RCI is turning them in a few weeks. But if you want beefy sliders, the BAMF’s are significantly beefier (longer, one piece front mount, etc...) than the RCI’s. You’ll have similar wait times to BAMF with Mobtown, CBI, etc... Pick what matters most to you and go from there.

Quick question: is there a Hi-Lift Slider adapter that works well with the BAMF outer tube that you would recommend and/or have seen used and works well on your sliders?
