All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Got with your gut. I have owned a lot of RTTs. The best ones are the versions in which the ladder is covered up by the overhanging annex. Or rather when the annex is zipped up, the ladder is completely inside the annex.
When weather gets shitty, it’s best to be able to go up and down, with out going outside. My 2 cents.
Both of the o es your looking at so what I am referring to. So there ya go, but I must say, I like RTTs that don’t have a fiberglass bottom. I have punched holes thru them before on accident obviously

Well the Ranier is bigger than the Vagabond 4, though Roam does make a larger tent which is Ranier size. ... just gotta decide if you like the extras Roam has (gear rack, boot bags, condensation mat, wrapped inner poles, skylights in the rain fly, upgraded travel cover, better telescoping ladder, window in the overhang, curved frame, etc). Shipping is $100 more from CVT (though you could also local pickup).

How long has ROAM, or the skylight in the rain fly design been around? I only ask as that seems like a prime place for water intrusion as the RTT ages and with repeated use. Similarly, most of the clear PVC/vinyl type materials I’ve seen used in similar applications begin to haze/fade/etc pretty quickly. Which basically negates the skylight concept.

By no means am I trying to be a jerk or dog on the design. I’m genuinely asking as I know materials/designs evolve rapidly. Again I like the idea of a skylight rainfly, but honestly not sure I like it in practicality.

Thinking of selling my KB Voodoo bed rack. Just paid 700 for it and it is brand new as of two weeks ago. My neighbor just offered me a killer deal on a matching topper.

Looking for 600 obo and you don’t have to put it together.

Good questions- but I know CVT Summit series has them in it. I plan on using 303 on that part and should do it well.

Has anybody tried to bolt on a spare tire to the actual tailgate? Or to the camper rear door and get beefed up shocks? I’m trying to see the cheapest round to have it on the back without buying a bumper + swing out

I would not advise that at all. Definitely not built to hold the weight.

Hey @InfernoChalupa , you still got that trailer hitch tire carrier thingy?

    What up pizza!?
Yes I have seen this done on a 2nd gen.
He used a FJ Cruiser rear carrier and reinforced the inside of the tailgate.
I can hit him up and see if it’s still operates properly.
However, I must say it was actually more in the way than anything.
If your looking for a budget kinda dealio, go with a hitch mount one.
