1st Gen SAS using 84' axel, good or bad?

I wanna SAS my 98 taco using my 84' yota axel, is this a good idea?

 

Its a fine idea. Its a lot of work, but there are a lot of Toys out there that have done it. I would research everything first.

 

I could be wrong but isn't the pumpkin on the wrong side on the old toyota axles?

 

I can't remember. I'd have to look at my buddies '82. My IFS on my '91 is on the right side. Think they make another transfer case. Marlin Crawler would be the place to look at for the conversion though.

I believe you are correct.


That's why you don't see too many toyota front axles on SAS rigs. They use Jeep Grand Wagoneer axles (87-91). I had an 89 GW axle on my Jeep.

 

I kno marlin crawler makes a adapter to place the old gear driven transfer case on the taco, but I'm still debating if it's worth all that work??

 

Get an ATLAS transfer case. Those things are the frigin envy of all offroaders = GOD of Transfer cases. The STAK case is another good one - just not sure of its reliability because its pretty new.

An Atlas has the same *drool factor* as the ARB lockers have.
