It may be branded Toyota, but still comes from a outside vendor... just like relabling water bottles for a charity event.

Ya and so does almost every other part to make a Tacoma. You can't buy it or a version of it anywhere else, it has to be from the factory / oem. How does that not make it a Toyota cover? JFC.

Wait? The hardware for $250? You can buy the cover and hardware off CL for that price.

Depends on what part of the country you are in and if people close by are wanting one. Buddy and I have both tried to sell his 6' oem cover with hardware for $200.00 for the last 4 months but no one wanted it here in southeastern Illinois or here on TacomaWorld.

Go to a dealership and buy the hardware. You will pay up from $250 to $350 for it just depends on what part of the country you are in.

See how many people on TacomaWorld will sell you just the hardware. Most will not.

Covers are selling around here for 400 to 600. I got this one for a little less. I've done some research on the hardware, i'm fine with 250 shipped.

I believe you will have to remove your bed rail cap protectors and trim those also . Mine came with the Oem cover and my caps are notched.

Yes he will. I was going to buy the cover from my buddy and use a Dremel tool to neatly notch the bed rail caps.

This is true. Just like the folding bed steps. Box it comes in leads you to believe it is Toyota but AMP Research actually makes them.

Toyota buys parts from lots of other vendors and manufacturers, break pads, power steering pumps, air bags, all of them likely not toyota made but still OEM parts. Same with the bed cover

Ok guys, need some advice! I got my hardware, took off my plastic bed rail and tried to install first mount and the first Torx bolt went in way too hard. I tried the next bolt and it almost felt like the bolt wasn't matching the threads as I could only get it to go part way in. Can't figure it out and dont want to mess up my mounting holes in truck. Is it supposed to be this hard to screw in bolt when attaching mounts for tonneau cover? Could it be because I have the base model SR? The bed rails came off easy and all the holes are there for the 6 mounts but Ive tried a few different mounting areas and several of the screws but they wont go into the side mounting holes without a lot of force. I even tried the bolts in the header bar at top of bed where plastic support mount goes and bolts went in easily! So it can't be the bolts, what could it be?
