I haven't used it a ton , actually got it to problem solve a thermal bridging / thermal bypass issue on a job but it is pretty cool

 

Its pretty awesome for all that kind of stuff , my reason for getting it is mostly for improving the thermal envelope on buildings

 

I would pull that cement board too, I seriously doubt it was installed properly with a rain screen and with your h2o issues it will likely become a sodden crumbly mess if u cover it up with another product. Then u can reinstall your windows correctly

 

Our inspectors used one to check our circuit panels, outlets, and heat flow through the house.

 

Anyone have any experience with drywall/insulation in a garage? Renting a home in the PNW with half the garage insulated and drywalled. I'm going to get the other half done so I can hopefully spend more time in there during the winter months. Codes permit me to install it myself, going to match what was previously installed.

I've got to do 3 4'x8' sheets per side to complete it. I'm going to get a drywall driver bit and some drywall tape for the seams. Anything else I should consider?

 

If you don't want to throw down $800 for a Flir system and don't have to have as much detail Seek thermal has a nice gadget for around $225 that connects to most smart phones. Flir make a similar one. Both make a lower price the one I have and a better model for a little more $.

 

Youtube is your friend. Speaking of friends, hanging sheetrock is definitely easier with one. Or a lift lol.

You’ll want to put a bead of drywall adhesive on studs and plates, and you’ll need mud and a 6” drywall knife to make the tape stick and to seal the gap

What are you insulating with?

Just saw you’re renting. check with your landlord first, they might give U a break on your next rent in the amount of materials invested. Or keep ur security deposit lol

 

I borrowed one of those from the local library. Worked great.

 

its also easier if you pay someone to do it... I hate sheetrock.

 

No doubt. I don’t mind hanging it so much but finishing it is not my favorite thing to do lol

 

yeah I usually put too much stuff on the seams and have to sand it off

 

And then sand too much off and have to do it all over again....(that’s why I payed someone this time to finish it)

 

Ok..more questions..
I will likely be starting my garage interior build soon. So far I have been given the following in from here..
-put outlets up high
-plywood/osb behind drywall
-hang items off isulation if storing in attic

I can see light through the bottom of the exterior walls. It doesnt have a frost wall so water can potentially enter.
How do I seal this up?
Also, in prep for a gas heater...should I pipe in for this? Radiant vs forced air? Both consumption and heat distribution.
