wondering if any of you ottawa crew get into any backpacking? i plant to head up to crag lake for a night at a great hike in spot this spring. not keen on bringing the tacoma all the way up as it is pretty rough but the backpack in takes an hour or so from where i leave my rig when i go in there

well maybe somebody can join me for a beer up there! directly across the lake in the photo is a great swim spot off the rocks. i haven't fished the lake but image there are a few fish to be found up there. the hike is basically 40 mins uphill to the lake then 20mins around to the spot in the photo.

all of the best spots are either atv accessible or hike in but as i mentioned i do know a few tacoma friendly spots!

haha the bottom is hard after spinning off the small amount of slick turd on the surface of it, but there are a few rocks and trees, from this point the trail gets rough enough that my jk and jku on 35's were left at the bottom if there was no other rig there with a winch.

do i think my new tacoma with a rear locker and 2inch lift and 255 toyo's could make it up there, yes! do i think it would be rough, very!!

I want some traction boards really bad but I don't want cheap ones, I do like the TRED Pros but they are $$$$ as well! I don't have any self recovery gear unless you count a shovel hahaha I don't even have a winch, which is why I don't wheel alone. I only have a 15' strap and a 30' kinetic rope and some shackles. I was going to get some boards this year, but my build/priorities got a bit moved around since I backed my truck into something a ruined my back bumper lol

@Kemosabe has a thing there that I cant think of the name of right now... it uhm… bloody hell, I was hoping while typing I would remember whats its called lol ,,,,,, come-a-long! there we go hahaha and im trying to convince him to get a hidden front receiver from mobtown to get shipped up when I finally order my new back bumper. that way he can cradle a winch

I got the Maxsa innovations from Amazon this winter. Didn't used them yet but they seem solid! And a few videos on youtube show how they flex, and they should be good to handle what I'll ask them to do.

Haha Yes I still carry that come a long Subway4x4 gave me! Better than nothing imo lol i carry a few straps too and shackles.

In my mind I am totally sold on the look of the ARB front bumper... and i do make some extra money on the site I work on this winter... i'll have to decide on if I want the recovery bar combined with winch craddle or bumper with winch haha
