Yes, no issues whatsoever, you should get a little better MPGs out of it.

Go on, get the OV tune and run 93.

As far as gas, you probably won't see any real performance gains. 93 is going to burn slower.... It may take a few tanks to get the computer to tune to the new octane either way.

Although my truck runs fine on 87, I do run non ethanol once a month just to clean out the system.

Here at Denver's altitude Shell V Power is only 91 octane. I filled up this AM. It was 66 cents more than regular. No noticeable difference. Last time I do that.

There is nothing premium about premium gas except the name and the price. You are a fool if you spend your money on it unless you have a vehicle that specifically requires it and there are very few that do and the 3.5 is not one of them. Now if you want to compare gasoline to ethanol, then you might have something in terms of power. A gallon of gasoline has more energy than ethanol so pure gasoline would have more power than E10 or E15 while Ethanol might have a higher octane rating. Higher octane doesn't mean more power.

Higher altitude areas don't need the higher 93 octane since thinner air prevents detonation.
All modern engines have knock sensor or sensors and computer controlled ignition timing.
When the computer retards ignition timing it reduces intake mixture so you lose a bit of power.
Pure gas has higher free energy compared to ethanol so you feel the extra power. At least noticable on full throttle.

Urban legend. I worked at a Sunoco station in the 1960's (yes I'm old). There were two underground tanks. One held 190 which was urine yellow and the other held 260 which was blue. The pump blended the two to get the intermediate grades. In those days 190 was 19.9 and 260 (102 octane) was 38.9.

Premium absolutely makes my truck run smoother compared to regular. I do appreciate all the posters telling me how my truck drives though.

How come the engine is smoother and doesn’t stutter when I use premium then?

Well I don’t normally use it except for boat and jet skis... if I have left over, i put it in taco and get ~+3 mpg

It is the same, it is your head that is different. I guarantee you that if you did a blind taste test that you wouldn't be able to tell. Oil companies make a killing off their marketing. There is a reason that octane numbers go up instead of down. For giggles next time take a look at diesel octane numbers. Explain to me how they are able to make such power with such low octane numbers if higher octane is what it is all about.
