no airbag switch on 2010 DC Off road?

I have no passenger airbag on/off switch on the 2010 dc off orad i just picked up yesterday. Should i have one, i'm guessing not but i don't know why. Can i put one in?

 

Are you certain? The switch is the far right one in the row with the vsc off, and rear locker switch.

 

There is a weight sensor switch in the passenger seat. Look next to the clock when someone gets into the passenger seat, the passenger seatbelt logo lights up and it will say passenger airbag on.

 

The only year that came in the double cab was 2005

 

if there is no passenger in the pass seat should it say "off"? mine says nothing

Be glad. The one in my 2010 AC cab is nothing but a dash rattle trap.

 

Mine lights up to "on" when someone is in the passenger seat. If nobody is there it doesn't light up anything.

 

That's the side curtain airbag turn off for off camber driving. He's asking about a passenger airbag switch.

If I'm not mistaken, when you remove the blank black plastic cover that would normally house the switch (to the direct right of your climate panel), you will see the pre-wiring for the switch. (The cover just pops off). Retro-fitting a switch is likely possible.

why does the access cab have a switch and not a seat sensor???

 

because most child restraint systems (car seats) will have to be used in the front seat of an access cab, therefore you will have to turn the airbags off on the passenger side.
in the DC, you should put the child restraint systems in the back seat, therefore you do not need a switch in the front.

 

yea but my Reg cab doesnt have a back seat and i dont have a switch, just a seat sensor... if i install a car seat in my truck i dont want to trust the seat sensor id like to turn it off for peace of mind

 

hmmm, this is weird. you should have a switch for the reg cabs I would think, unless something new happened for '10.

 

according to the owners manual only the access cab has the switch. For access cab and reg cab it says only forward facing car seats and on the reg cab to make sure the bench is in the most rear position so the airbag wont reach the child. i just want a damn switch lol

 

And according to Toyota's website, only the access cab has the ability to turn off the pass airbag. However...while I didn't find anything on any of the forums giving a way to disable it, it was discovered by some that the wiring for it was behind the dash. Not sure if that's still the case. And no one really knew whether the switch was all that was needed for it to work.

There have been several double cabs over the years that people bought new/used that had the cutoff switch already installed, so maybe it is true that the wiring is there and you just need the switch (saw one report that the switch from the dealer was around $200 but maybe it's available online elsewhere now?).
