Is there a phone box on the side of the house somewhere? Might be a good place to look.......

As far as your cat5 dilemma u might be able to pull ur baseboard and do all the cutting/drilling behind it so no sheetrock repair then fish it down to wherever u need the jack

There is a phone box from AT&T, from what I can see there’s one wire coming in the bottom (from the ISP) and the. The DSL line that’s currently running to the modem up the exterior wall and straight into the upstairs bedroom where the modem is.
I had considered the possibility of the Cat 5 running into the back of the box but RJ45 (Ethernet) connectors are only used from the modem-in (I.E. from the modem to the user side) as RJ-11 is used for phone and DSL so I would likely* see RJ-11 at the wall if it went back to the phone box.
    *theres always an exeption.

As for the drywall, is that possible? The floor joists are 8-12” I’m assuming because the HVAC supply runs through the floor upstairs and ceiling downstairs and I’m assuming that there has to be a top plate and bottom plate for the studs at a minimum, meaning I need at 12” bit or longer.

I know nothing about how the 2nd story floor works as I’ve never dealt with them before, the only framing experience I have is from when we built our house that was on pillars 14’ in the air.

Open that box up and see what’s in there lol then check the attic and crawl

2nd floor is usually built just like 1st but If u have hvac running in it you prolly have floor trusses not joists

Get a long ass 5/8” to 3/4” bit and try not to hit any wires or pipes :)

Thank you for the advice! Is there any insulation or drywall I should consider for the Pacific Northwest climate?

U could piss your landlord off and pay a couple month’s rent at one time by hiring the spray foam truck lol but I’d just roll with whatever is in the rest of the wall. Most likely fiberglass batts :)
Just make good n sure there’s no water seeping/soaking in from outside before u cover anything up

Looks like I’m headed to the attic :goingcrazy:
No wires out the back that I could see either.

I didn’t know the difference between joists and trusses until last night, thanks.
In this case they aren’t built the same, the 1st floor has a slab.

I’ll make sure to check for wires with the stud finder, pipes should be fine as there is no plumbing at that end of the house except a hose bib.

I do not disbelieve you, it is just that everything I look at or touch, turns into a steaming pile :crapstorm:.
I set the jaquzzi tub yesterday and have mounted ledger boards around and shimmed the bottom feet, however there is no nailing flange on this tub, so I am not sure how to hold it in place. I want to make sure that I have this right before I mix cement and put under it.
Here is a picture of the tub before I built out the wall on the right side and added ledger boards around the sides to support the tub.
    ECF9C7D8-5EB0-49CC-930E-9632861BB40E.jpg
So the edge that you see going up; I am going to lay backer board down to this edge and then tile slightly past the backer board to overlap the rolled edge.

You are correct re the backer board and tile . Sometimes that style of edge detail comes with a clip that slips over the edge and screws into the studs

    @Kolunatic , any advice ?

I assumed that front gets a snap in or magnetic access panel but if not you make a good point

I'll check for leaks but it looked dry after the last big rain. Is there a sealer spray or something along those lines to prep the wall before the batts?

I’ve never seen anything like that other than spray foam and that stuffs expensive lol. There are some products u can install from outside but I wouldn’t sweat it unless u can see moisture or rotten wood.
Speaking of sweat, I forgot to mention ur gonna want to use kraft faced insulation

The jaquzzi guts is all front accessible. The motor/ pump is to the right and the faucet will be on the right side where the drain is.
Not sure what else needs to be accessible?:notsure:

I’ve set some of those in the past but rock was on wall already and tiled in afterwards. I set so many jacuzzi tubs years ago I got a bakers cyst in my knees. Some important factors are don’t get in tub or you’ll crack it. Dry fit drain piping and once you get it glue it all in place. Pull tub back out and set it on a large bed of mortar but not so wet it squeezes out. Set tub back in and make sure entire bottom is supported and do not get in tub! Hook up drain trim and let it dry rock hard before putting water in it. Then you have a solid bottom. Sounds easier than doing it.

The jacuzzi I have now actually sits on slab built that way from factory, it has feet and supports. It was a bitch on ones that didn’t have that.
