Installed Rago Fabrication CB antenna mount. Works well with already installed Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners and tail gate opens/closes well.

Posted for those wondering if they’ll work together

Hey thanks for that! Been wondering if that combo would work. Any tailgate rub?

I have the same mount, no tailgate stiffener. No rubbing. I wrapped the mount in insulation tape just incase to.

Bed Stiffeners are a great option, love mine. Not Total Chaos but work the same.

Weird, I just got this mount and tried it installing alongside my Total Chaos bed stiffeners and the tailgate cover rubs one of the bolts when closing.

    No go for me.

Yeah there must be. It doesn't rub a lot and the tailgate closes but it would wear through the tailgate fiberglass cover after a while. I may try using a lower profile bolt. TBD.

EDIT: I cut the rear mounting point off of the bracket, I bent the antenna mounting piece a bit, and used a lower profile bolt head, still no-go. Not all beds are created equal.

What is the logic and real world evidence that these things are at all useful? First of all, the tailgate attaches to both sides of the bed when closed, which would seem to be much more effective at preventing the sides of the bed from spreading. Secondly, if you were afraid that wasn't enough support, wouldn't a simple bar across the top of the bed make a whole lot more sense?

    Not enough.
It would be nice to see this as one piece. Antenna mount and bed stiffener as one.

Thanks for the photos and review, is the top bolt that's going through both the cb bracket and the top of the bed stiffener the original from TC or Rago, or is it aftermarket you had/picked up?

I am liking the full length of the TC stiffeners over other brands, but have the caliraised cb/light brackets on both side of my tailgate for aux backup lighting, and didn't want to be limited to either the TC taller style stiffeners or the bracket mounted aux floods, and after seeing your pictures am thinking a longer bolt might make it work.
