Guy on here makes them, only when there is a group buy. If you are lucky he might have some left because I think a group buy just happened. If not you gotta get like 10 guys for him to do another batch

I need to build a new painting rack, preferably one with a motorized lift.

Just hook up a pully system to the grage door opener and use that

I’m just afraid of what the weight/shear capacity is on the ceiling joists. I was thinking two motorized hoists wired in parallel, but I have no idea what kind of weight the joists can handle.

They way I have it set up is definitely not safe. The shear rate on the punched angle iron can’t be that much.

That’s exactly how it’s set up now. It’s hanging from the angle iron for the garage door on pulleys.

So if you hit the grage door button it lowers it?

That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

Not to mention the amount of weight will be added to the springs, and strain on the motor. That’s a recipe for someone getting hurt.

You dont hook it up while the grage door us connected. You undo the dpor at the latch. Then boom all the motor has to do is lift the rack, and if your pully system is right it’s hardly any force on the motor

The weight of the painting rack and all the horns far exceeds the weight of a garage door. There’s at least a few hundred pounds of horns on there.

you realize how heavy that garage door is, right? how much tension is in the coil springs as well?

I’d rather not mess with that. The tension in the coil springs are enough to keep me away.

the opener can handle it. typical door is going to range 350-400lbs. those doors aren't lightweight.

Yah garage doors are alot heavier then they seem when you lift it without a motor. Take the coil away or have one snap, then you feel the weight.
