Show us your truck bed sleeping platform/drawer/storage systems

I'd be more than happy to share the design. The design isnt 100% true to the end result but reasonably close. I wouldn't want to see anyone making money off my design but for personal use give 'er hell!

So those are plastic Jerry cans but a good point, a piece of rubber to prevent running is a good idea

 

You could try attaching the file to a post, or, if you have the file hosted somewhere such as Google Drive and it has Read/Download permissions set on the file, then you can post a link to it stored in Google Drive.

There's a few of us which use SketchUp and would appreciate a template such as yourse to work from. Just make sure to remove any private info you dont want to share with others.

1" ply in 3 larger and one smaller section, no additional support, carpeted and 3' foam pad. Sometimes I regret not getting a taller shell but this setup works great for me.

How are the guys with stock suspension handelind the extra weight? With the platform, shell, and a roof top tent in felling the added weight pretty good. And that’s without any supplie. I figure the shell, tent, and platform adds 500lb.

And my platform is pretty basic just some steeep cross bars for support and plywood base.

 

You will sag in the Back end. Our stock leaf springs are crap.

 

@Blackout14 sells a HD leaf pack that im running. I dont even know that Ive lost an inch with all the weight i have in the back (Rear bumper, Tire carrier and now Bed Drawers). Some seriously beefy stuff

 

I dont remember if I added my hellwig helper springs before, or after the bed platform, but definatly after my cap install. I remember being disappointed in seeing the back end sagging and bought the helpings decently quick, but also built the platform decently quick.
My truck sits stock level, if not a tad higher in the rear with how I have them installed.

 

Is that the same as AAL?

 

I used headstrong’s 3 leaf AAL at first, but it was really just a band aid. The stock springs are garbage and continued to sag and flatten after wheeling with this much weight even with the AAL. Bit the bullet at got HD Dakar’s. They certainly solved the sag issue but like other users they seem to ride pretty flat. ARB says it’s normal. Doesn’t look normal to me though.

 

Close. Big difference us that a AAL is under tension at all times. The hellwig I have is only under tension when enough force is applied to the stock springs that they tighten up then the helper comes into play. So it does not lift the truck up.

Right? I went 3/4 and I wonder if I should have went 1/2 to save on weight.

 

I've posted this elsewhere recently, but it fits in here as well. I used 6 milk crates and made plywood lids that I carpeted. The front two can be accessed like drawers, the rest you can simply lift the lids. More than strong enough to stand on since that's our floor when the Habitat is open.

 

Yeah, rule of thumb for weight is 100 pounds per inch for a 4x8 sheet.

Sounds about right, the 3/4 felt like they were in ruthe 75lb range.
