with it on the ground, try to move the tire (grab at 3 and 9, then 12 and 6) and push/pull.

Grab the UCA and try to move it.

Then jack up one corner at a time and do the same thing on the wheel.

Also visually inspect the LCA pivots for any signs of movement, or the bolt not being centered in the bushing.

I'm sure there's someone closer but I can lend garage space some weekend other than this weekend, if you're desperate.

Downshifting without a clutch and the splitters for sure sure make it much more complicated. It’s easier to clutch out and not stall but that’s about it imo.

So I'm about to pull the trigger on my laundry list of upkeep items. I wanted to maybe throw my list out one more time to see if all y'all might have parts for me to buy used before I go and order new stuff.

    I'm working on my 2003 (i.e. 1st gen.) 3.4L V6 4x4 Doublecab.

Need: OE struts x 4 (decided not to do Bilsteins since my beast is so rusty I may only get a few more years), preferably under 30K miles on them; Upper spring seats for front, both sides, not rusty on the threads; Ball joints on front (upper and lower, obviously that's a component you want new, but maybe someone has some sitting around; leaf springs (I don't care if they've got upwards of 75-100K miles on them so long as the vehicle wasn't rusty and they're not ugly/abused).

I already got UCAs off the board, and I already got that tank I was looking for.

Drop me a PM if you've got something I might be interested in. Pics please! Thanks guys.

I only ever used the clutch to get rolling. You don't need it for upshifting or downshifting. You just need to feather the throttle. Get the RPM's right and it will suck itself right into gear.

That's what I'm up against when I say I may only have a few more years in this truck. Wishing and wishing the rust fairies would come along and make it all disappear! So other than the upkeep of driveability stuff I listed above that I'm shopping for, I'm in the need of body repair too. Might dabble on making it my first real experience doing cutting/welding on my own (no formal training but seen it done a couple times with buddies).
