What'cha going to use for the battery management? And are you hooking everything auxiliary up to it?

I have the "Blue Sea ML-ACR Automatic Charging Relay with Manual Control" under the hood feeding this. Im going to have my solar routed to the secondary battery, as well as my fridge outlet, some 12v outlets, usb outlets & a voltmeter in the bed, and possibly a few other things. I'm toying with throwing a bigger inverter back there too. Not sure yet.

Very cool, I'm starting to collect all the things I need for a dual battery set up myself. Do you know if there is a benefit to running a winch off of the starting battery rather than the secondary battery? I'm just trying to plan out where I route stuff.

It would depend on the specs of the 2 batteries.

And where you mount the second battery. Running a winch off a secondary battery in the cab would require some T H I C C wiring. At full draw, they draw almost 500 amps.

Lets say it was two brand new Group 35 batteries. Identical in every way. One school of thought I've read is that you get more help from the alternator if you're winch comes directly off the starting battery. The other school of thought is that everything aux should come off the house battery leaving the starting battery stock. I just got the Blue Sea ML-ACR also so that would be between the two batteries.

I'm leaning toward hooking it up to the starting battery due to the alternator being closer and the cables would be slightly shorter.

Hey @EatSleepTacos how do you tell if a shell is reinforced by the serial number plate? Does it have a special code or prefix to identify it?
