P2238 code cleared itself completely, no more pending code in the ECU

 

Reminds me my code hasn’t cleared. Gotta change my afr sensor

 

Ballin, crazy how the grounds are so important to the ECU and it's monitoring of the components

 

We don't have a 7/11 here or whatever sandwich those are. And I stopped eating McDonald's

 

I had to do mine when first got truck. Mpg went from 15-16 to 20. I hate knowing tons of excess fuel was dumped into system for years while PO let it ride with the MIL on. I'm sure I'll need a cat soon from it

 

you have the same code? or P0031 I think also is for the first a/f sensor. I think that one is more an indication that it's actually bad

I think its P0031, i have ghe sensor in my room, Just haven’t had time to work on my truck

 

yeah my only fear now is that the system kept getting shorted when the battery terminal made contact with the metal bracket so many times that I'm afraid I could have damaged the ECU or some other critical component. Everything seems back to normal now so I guess I got lucky, other than the half fried engine ground wire that I need to replace.

Looks really easy from what I can tell, easier than the rear O2 sensor anyhow which is also pretty simple (only took me 30 min to do that one). Since you have a manual it's a bit more tricky to get to the connector plug, have to take apart the shifter console inside the truck since it's in there for the air/fuel sensor.

 

It shouldn’t have damage it. Its not drawing any amps through those if its a short at the battery, and its not gunna push more voltage then needed to them if it shorts arlt battery.

Ill figure it out, just been lazy. Plan to do it same time as timg belt and water pump. But if i gotta take apart my shift I should do my shifter bushings too

 

The sooner the better on that ground cable. And then a good reset while it's unplugged and your fixing the ground and ECU maps out a new fuel map

Yeah if anything it'd blow fuses or fry components, I'd think. Toyota's ECUs are usually pretty heavily protected and robust. You rarely hear of those crapping out

 

don't wait too long, like @cruiserguy said your ecu could be compensating for the bad readings the a/f sensor is giving with too much fuel and might hurt your cats = $$$

Power can travel up the ground wire into thing possibly Feeding it 24 volts or just thought stuff off because the power was fed back wards, like if you were to hook up a battery backwards. Bought if it was just a quick short at the battery I doubt you would have any of those issues
