The thing literally looks like it sat submerged in the Dead Sea for about 10 years before the charlatan mom and pop used dealer in upstate NY buffed it up and sold it to me.

Wow that's a lot of rust...the frame is still solid?

But what would one pay to swap off a body/bed onto my existing engine/frame? Never heard of such a thing and something makes me wonder if the ticket on that would be about $2-4K?

Supposedly the frame had its recall done. That dealer showed me the papers to prove it, from Toyota themselves. You can see the frame's not near as bad as the body itself.

Yeah I see it doesn't look as bad in comparison to the body, did they coat the frame or replace it?

Ya know... I forget. I'd have to pull out my file and check the paperwork. To my recollection it was the full frame swap out (not a coating).

Blackout, that's true... if my main issue was the bed. But my biggest problem is the rockers under the cab. Surely to replace a cab there's a lot more do-dads to disconnect and would be far more complicated than a couple cases of beer per friend per day could cover?

Gotcha figured I'd ask....didn't want you to be wasting your time fixing body work if the frame is shot.

    That’s mint! Easily worth $24k.

I'm running their HD greaseable shackles and the shackle flip. My shackle flip is from ATO, but I believe they're the same company.

I also took inspiration from their high clearance bumper. I like the minimalist approach they took and incorporated it into mine when @Skell and I designed it.

    So far so good

I want to build a tubular winch bumper that tucks the winch and far back and up as possible while keeping a clean style to it.

I have to wrap up a few other projects first before I can dig any deeper into the tacoma but that the down the pipeline goals

Jo n made his own front bumper like that. Not tubular, but winch is high and tight and it runs seamlessly into the IFS skid. It looks really good, production quality but better

Unfortunately, he was banned and we cant benefit from his experience and knowledge anymore.

    Thats sorta the rough idea,
I mau chop the lower bar that the factory tow hooks and sway bar mount to and make somthing similiar but higher and tighter for better approach angle and a stronger front skid

Yea he finished it a while ago. Looks REAL nice. I'll get some pics

Yeah Tom, that's what Jo n did. He chopped that cross piece. The angle of his skid and the angle of the front bumper are now the same too.

I'd love to see pics of that. Thats basiclly the exact idea I have in my head. Just have to free up some room and some time to tear into it.

So this is interesting. I’m checking the bed bolts. I pulled my bed mat back and noticed this front passenger side bolt has what looks like rust dust all around it. And the washer has plenty of room to wiggle around. But I can’t seem to tighten the bolt any more than it is.DEC82F4F-ECA3-4366-BB06-85E8DF792EF3.jpg

Pull the bed bolt, and grab a long 3/8" grade 8 bolt/nut from Lowe's or HD. And some big ass washers.

Use those as a replacement and tighten everything down. See if that fixes it.

3/8 will drop through the hole in the frame, so you don't mess up the threads for the bed bolt.
