If anything, its made my truck run better and noticeably smoother. The misfires people are seeing have mostly been through OBDII monitoring, and wouldn't even be noticed otherwise.

Just to clarify. These misfires are not "dead" cylinder event and dont affect the engine operation.

First off, sorry about all the douche bags doing chargebacks.

Couple quick questions, I last downloaded and flashed on 2/17 with 04b04 1.05 87 P+GLock running strait 91 oct at the moment. Just downloaded from 87 base from FM. How do you know if it is the updated version, because the file has the same name? Are the performance versions updated along with that base tune?

Sorry if it's been answered, but I've been out of the loop on here for a bit.

So this is mostly a theoretical question. Does an aggressive tip-in necessarily come with a weird little dead space if you're easy on the throttle? With both 1.03 87 and the performance version of 1.05 87, I noticed that the pedal would do nothing, then after a few degrees of movement, the throttle would "turn on." If I drove with a heavy foot, this did not happen - response was instant, but inappropriate for things like easing into a parking space. By way of comparison, both 1.04 and the base version of 1.05 are completely predictable and smooth from zero on up.

I realize these trucks probably do lots of weird math when converting a foot press into a request for torque from the engine. Just curious how all that translates into what I actually feel when driving.

This is literally the one drawback I hate the most about most electronic throttles vs cable throttles. I could always tighten my cable throttle to adjust dead space

Is there a difference between using the TSB-62-18 CUW file with Techstream and flashing 04a61 STOCK?

But it can't be entirely the fault of electronic controls, because Mat's 1.05 base tunes feel very much like a cable. If there's an 'on/off' moment in either 1.05 base 87 or 93 (the two base tunes I have used), it's subtle enough that I can't detect it. That's why I'm curious if there are multiple variables, and depending on how they interact, you get different behaviors.

Now that I think about it, Toyota's stock throttle programming was truly the worst offender for the dead space on/off effect. Parking my truck, back when it was stock, was a nightmare if I didn't stop exactly where I wanted in the parking space, because it was next to impossible to creep forward a few inches. The throttle either did nothing, or it came on too much.

Yes, it depends. The TSBs are to update your ECU. You can't flash a file for an ECU version that you do not have. You'd have to use the TSB to update, and then you could flash the stock file although that wouldn't change anything since you'd already be on the stock map for the new ECU version

Ok, that makes sense. I was able to update the ECU with Techstream. So now I can use the 04a61 baseline flashes available through Flash Manager. Thanks.

I have this same issue with both the 91 and 87 Performance tunes, and I can't stand it. Sometimes it literally feels like the truck might stall. I may just flash back to the 87 Base tune and see if it feels better in that regard after a few hundred miles.

Another thing I've discovered about the 87/91 Performance tunes is that they're not very well suited to off-roading. It's hard to manage small maneuvers with that tip-in.

These two issues are the only things preventing me from loving the Performance tunes 100%.

1.05 87P & 1.05 91P did not work well with my truck at all. I'm using 1.05 87 base and it runs good. (using 91 octane)

You can think of the aggressive “tip in” like a quick turn throttle on a motorcycle, if you’re familiar with that at all. Pedal position is much less than actual throttle position. You think you’re giving 10% throttle but really getting 20% (theoretical numbers so you can understand easier what is actually happening). So, yes there will be some dead pedal feel since it will achieve 100% throttle much sooner than you’re used to.

Not seeing the dongle tunes on the site.
Just got a check engine light. About to read the code, but wanted to see if there were any updates to 1.05 while I was away.
    Was going to reflaah tonight.

Apologies if this was already discussed and I missed it.

What was the date of the last 1.05 tune you flashed? There is a new FM and all of the info is in the 1st post and on the ovtune website.
