I hosed it down good with FF and worked the wheel. It’s back to normal now. Guess I’ll add that to my routine maintenance until I get a new one

 

I'll tell you now, shop around. Balise will be about $230 or so. I think my dad got his for $190 plus shipping

I think I will put on my calendar to just spray down exhaust , strut and any other parts that are a complete PITA to work with. Blast or whatever . I figure every other month or so would work.

 

I am looking for a hole punch that looks something like these nail clippers that I can punch into the boots of my Bilstein’s so I can spray some white lith in to keep them from riding up. I used open gear lube but stuff is messy and too dark but it works. Any ideas?

 

I know I can always use a drill but neatness is what I prefer

 

I wouldnt put holes in the dust boots.
If you must, remove the zip tie, and slide the boot up, grease the shaft, and add a new zip tie

I’ll try that with a different grease than the open gear lube. Silicone didn’t work for shit and I tried and all purpose grease and that got same result. Tbanks

 

If you look close on the bottom of those boots there are two little holes already, right near where the zip ties are .

 

I wouldn't spray the lower intermediate shaft unless an issue arises. Penetrating oil will deteriorate the grease in the u joint

 

Honestly you are better off cutting the boots off. I've seen water and dirt get trapped by the boot and that will ruin a shock quicker

 

To my trade brothers on here. Someone just cracked open a hi psi line wide the fuck open without yelling air out or anything of the like ahead of time... Right next to my weld booth.

Question that matters is, did they mess up, and just started to blow down w/o thinking, OR, did someone think theyre funny?

That crap can really rattle someones cage, ESPECIALLY, when youre focused.

 

They just didn't give a crap. Typical shop where this is the only job they have had ever and never worked in the real world.

Nothing like a 3am wakeup from both cats chasing a terrified mouse around the living room. No sleep after that, lol. Going to be something of a long day, I think.

 

What are you trying to accomplish here? Keep the boots from riding up, with grease? Sounds like you need bigger zipties or hose clamps or something
