Do it! All out of my price range, but I love muh jeffsy! The new CF frames look fancy af!

Went out of town for work and WHEW... I was beat as hell after a 10 mile trail ride (so I did it again the next day, lol). This was before I left, but it was wild... Being the only trail open in the DFW area, this beast was PACKED!
    upload_2019-3-18_19-33-33.jpg

For reference... the entrance is by the car driving down from about 3/4 up the hill and my truck is JUST to the left of the frame... Here's a pic of a bike!

    upload_2019-3-18_19-37-3.jpg

Now... I'd like to end with a srs question. I'm a super sweater when I ride. I bring a change of clothes on every ride, but I must know... for those of you that change clothes before leaving the trail, what's the stealth method to change boxers/under-y-doos when there's no "changing room"? Y'all getting in the truck and wiggling around or setting up a camp shower or something?

Surfers are really good at this. They wrap a towel around their waist and get into and out of wetsuits and trunks while standing on the edge of the road next to their car. No big deal. I've never had to do it but it seems like it would take some practice. They make it look easy though.

I am not a graceful man... LOL. Although, that hadn't even crossed my mind. Maybe I'll give it a shot here at the house and see if I'm even capable! Thanks for the suggestion!

I usually just get in the truck and change real quick. No issues, and I haven't been arrested for public indecency. Not for that anyway...

I use the towel trick too. Or depending on where I am parked at the trailhead I use the open front and back door trick.

Nice Smash. If I wasn't married, I would already have ordered a new carbon Megatrail to replace my awesome but aging OG Megatrail.

Ooooh ooooh I know this one!

Primary: Get a big ass beach towel, and sew some of those rediculously strong "rare earth magnets" into the corners(you can find them on Amazon or scrounge from an old computer hard drive). Open the front and rear doors to make the side walls and magnet the towel in front. Now you have a decent size changing area that covers the problem area.

Secondary: the "surfer method". Wrap a beach towel around you and shimmy off your shorts and shimmy on a fresh pair.

Tertiary: The risky biscuits "scuba diver method" : Don't give a :censored: and just get naked right quick in the parking lot and change into street clothes

Lastly, and the way I do it 99% of the time: The "I got my PT in, how bout you?" method. Roll into work still in your riding gear, rolling your bike through the hallway to your office, close the door, change in your office. Irritates the shit out of our HR person, who is VERY out of shape and puts forth no effort. I hear her whine about it to our plant manager, and he sides with me every time.

Which is why I own (a few) mountain bikes! It's like going to the gym, but isn't a treadmill aka "exercise device for sociopaths"

Although I don't have a problem with husky people that at least make an effort, I have SEVERE issue with those that have clearly just "leaned in" to it at this point.

I use the secondary method several days a week. Works fine in a busy parking lot. The tertiary method comes in when I've forgotten a towel. In those cases, the front and rear door of the Tacoma can be angled to serve as a semi-private changing room.

This method also depends on where my trailhead is...

In a residential neighborhood Just go to work/home and change.

On the outskirts of nowhere? Get nakey

Thanks. I actually have a carbon Trail Pistol on order (hopefully I’ll stay married after it arrives). Can’t wait to try it out, but I ordered it with the idea that I’d spend a couple months on both, and sell the one I liked least, but at this point I just can’t imagine giving up the Smash. Hopefully they’ll be different enough to justify keeping both.

Badass! I'm firmly in the two bike camp. That's what I love so much about their new stuff. My plan is to get a Megatrail frame and swap my current parts, then eventually work my way to the stays and parts for a Trail Pistol. It'll happen eventually. I can't fault the wife too much. I just built a new, second bike last Summer.

Trick is to get that towel up tight around your mid torso and either put a roll or two on the towel if it's big enough or just tuck the corner in to keep it snug, that way you have both hands free to change and not trying to use one hand to hold the towel low around your waist as you stumble around. (years of water polo deck changing and surfing)

Also, I actually managed to get out for a ride this weekend, first ride in about 3-4 months... Felt nice.

Saw this guy at the parking lot, said he was on here, but hadn't been on in a while.
