After dumping a bunch of money into performance parts I decided I wanted to switch gears on my truck and go in the direction of a street truck. I removed the off road bumper, and I'm getting a stock one put on next week, as well as the side steps and top mounted light bar.

    6.jpg

I purchased 20x12 Toxic Punishers on Nitto 420S (285/40R20), which look and ride great, much smoother than the open countries. However the wheels are much smaller and the truck is still lifted 6" on a Zone Off Road lift.

    1.jpg

I haven't done a size comparison but based on my speedometer I believe they are smaller if not the same size as stock diameter. Which got me thinking that perhaps I could drop it back down to stock height or possibly drop it because there is just too much wheel gap.

The only issue is I do not have any of my stock suspension components (besides the front shocks). So I'm assuming I would need new control arms, struts, and shocks.

    3.jpg 4.jpg
    2.jpg

So I guess my question would be what components I would need to replace as well as thoughts on what ride height I can clear the wheels with. I've considered flared fenders for extra clearance on a lower set up

Drop bracket lifts require you cut the cross member so you will need that piece and a welder.

So how about just dropping it down to stock height?

the drop bracket requires you to cut the stock cross member so you can mount the front diff lower. you will have to weld a that piece of cross member back in to lower or return it to stock height. you have stock upper and lower control arms. you would need stock rear shocks, stock front spindles and stock length u-bolts. Maybe stock sway bar end links I can't tell if those are stock or not

Aka not worth it. You’d be better off putting the off-road tires back on, selling the truck and starting over from scratch with a cross member that hasn’t been cut.

Wont be selling the truck, I have around 8k into the engine alone lol Is the cross member a part of the frame? The shop I went through does strictly bolt on's, I doubt anything was cut. Can you tell based on the picture of the kit?

You literally can’t install a 6” drop bracket lift without cutting the crossmember that is part of the frame.

Its doable just a pita...as @mynewtoy stated the parts you will need.
    Rear shocks
    Ubolts
Cross member and welder to put the member back
    Stock front spindles
    Maybe sway bar parts.

Dear Abby, I lifted my truck with a drop bracket lift and had no idea they cut the cross member out of my frame.

    How do I move forward?

Not trying to bash you here, you got the answers you need to drop that truck.
Your choices won't be someone else's choices. When anyone asks a question in public they are going to get all kinds of answers. Ignore the shit and take the info :hattip:

What all do you have in the engine? Just put it back in off-road posture, remove the S/C, sell truck and start over with the S/C. Unless you are talking about internals then you can probably pull most of the 8K back out of the engine bay.

S/c, intake, headers, exhaust, tune & upgraded pulley. But all the lights are aftermarket and the truck is not in the best shape, I think buying a new one is out of the question lol

I understand not new, but you can pull the S/C, intake, exhaust, keep the pulley with the S/C. I know the thought of putting stock manifolds on is horrific but you got plenty of room with a 6” lift. It can be done then get into another 2nd gen. Hell, get into a 2wd 2nd Gen, slam it and race it with all your engine upgrades into it.
