I stand corrected - you are right, I was thinking of the small batch. Have yet to see a 4 grain or Rye...

Saw Bookers Front Porch at Total Wine in Delaware today. One bottle at $89.99. Just wasn't in the budget.

Finally got to try some Blantons tonight. The bartender had no idea what I was asking for. I had to tell him the round bottle with the little horse on top.

Finally got to try two that have been on my list for a while but haven’t found until this week. My wife surprised me with a bottle of Blantons. She stopped into the local Kroger and grabbed the last bottle 15 minutes after they opened! I stumbled on a bottle of Weller SR on a random stop to a different Kroger. While I enjoy ryes and I do like the Weller I don’t think it would be my go to every day. It is good but not my favorite. The Blantons is fantastic. I toured Buffalo Trace a while back but still never found any Blantons for sale. I took two pours and then sacrificed some into my living bottle and back on the shelf it goes. It will likely be quite a while before I see another bottle of this for sale in my area. Usually a couple bottles pop up at one store once every month or so.

Cool mounts for the shelves! Even cooler is what's on the shelves, lol.

I stopped by one of our local liquor stores to buy the last 3 bottles of Buffalo Trace they had on the shelf (only store in town that currently has it) and they told me they'd be getting an allocation of Blanton's in May. She put me on the call list, so hopefully I'll be able to get a bottle.

We were at a friend's house last night for a SPD themed dinner (corned beef, cabbage, carrots, Guinness bread) and the host gifted me a bottle of Balcones Brimstone. It's not for everyone, but if you love Islays, you might love this (I do). It should pair well with BBQ, which I'll be doing in a couple of weeks...

Thanks! I think I'm going to make some hanging racks for my Glencairn glasses in the open area under the top shelf. I made some recently for our wine glasses in the buffet.

Local booze shop had all of their Irish stuff on sale too; $3-$5 off pretty much everything on the shelf as long as it was "Irish"

I'm not sure how, but I started getting The Whiskey Advocate magazine (just showed up today). I think @bvbull200 will like this...

I saw that! Booker's 30th a collectible? Good chance mine gets cracked on Saturday. :)

Good night of tasting planned that day. I'll share details soon. At the Mavs' game tonight to watch Dirk do something historical. :D

I just picked up a bottle of Buffalo Trace White Dog Rye Mash - which from my understanding is essentially unaged rye from Buffalo Trace.

It's pretty interesting, and I actually really enjoy it. It's 62.5%, very sweet taste to start with a pretty solid bite. Definitely not a whiskey replacement, but neat to try and enjoyable.

There was another piece in the magazine (I'll find it later and post a picture) about Nikka Straight from the barrel winning a big award. I saw that one a few pages back and it may have been you who posted it? Hopefully that will be available in the States, however, having won an award and gotten attention it will be 1) hard to find and/or 2) marked up in price to stratospheric levels.

Is Nikka Straight from the barrel different from Nikka From The Barrel?

I've seen a few FTB around here, been meaning to pick one up. I guess sooner than later is a good idea..

It's for sale here now as of about 9 months ago, but it is a little scarce. I brought my bottle home from Europe, all excited about having something unavailable here, then it got released in the States a couple months later.

Mine is/was a 500ml bottle. The ones here are 750ml.

Can confirm that the Triple Barrel is quite good for a cheap bottle.

How do I continue to find myself stumbling into threads here for all the things that soak up my money that aren't even truck related...

Well here's my go to budget whiskey lately, just found a couple places local that sell it, hadn't seen it outside Kentucky and Tennessee until last month.

Also just had a friend volunteering for a Seattle cocktail week event score me a bottle of this stuff I tasted when I was in Lynchburg on the JD distillery tour last fall. If you haven't tried it I would highly recommend it if you ever get the chance, Old No.7 is a bit harsher than I tend to prefer but this stuff is smooth as silk. Still need to go pick up my bottle from him.

It's Nikka From the Barrel. @916carl just had Blanton's on the mind ;).

If you like Japanese whiskies, I highly recommend grabbing a bottle. It is a very good pour. It's also a tad tricky to find at times. Not crazy rare, but kind of like Blanton's. Some won't see it for months at a time, but others will be swimming in it.

Lol, I was in fact eyeing my unopened bottled of Blanton's yesterday so it was on my mind! Decided I was in a Scotch mood so I had some Glendronach 12. It's been open for about 2 weeks now and has improved immensely, really digging it.

The Nikka From The Barrel  was mentioned a few time in the Whisky Advocate mag, this instance references it's winning their Whisky of the Year 2018.
