Anyone having trouble with radio shutting-off, or turning on after truck is shut off?

Have a 2018 TRD Sport 4x4. Radio shut off while driving the other day, and then turned back on after showing the start sequence. It has also turned-on after shutting off the truck and getting out. Have had phone conversations interrupted by radio coming on. Anyone else dealing with this? Is there a software update? Can it effect the ignition? Dealership was no help, as the problem wouldn't happen for them.

Video it with your phone next time. I had about 5 videos of my screen going blank at random times and the dealer didn't balk at all when I showed it to them.

I have a similar problem. I went to a Toyota associated shop and they ordered another one. New head unit came in a week or so.

I had a similar issue. Mine would turn off and then back on and go into a loop where that's all it would do. I would have to restart the truck and it would be normal. Did it to me twice, took it to Toyota and they said it just needed an update. After the update I have had 0 issues.

Mine resets when I try to call out using bluetooth while playing music, it does not happen every time but it has happened at least 10 times since the last entune update.

One last update before this truck goes into the dealer this morning. This past Saturday my wife and I went to a high school basketball game. We got some take-out before hand, and sat in the truck eating before the game. I had turned the radio on. (one push of the start button, without touching brake) After a few minutes the dash lit-up as if the truck was in the start mode, and then the starter hit. It didn't turn the engine over, but you could clearly hear it engage. My wife is now totally freaked-out by the truck and won't drive it. Just spent nearly $40K, and I've got a truck that scares my wife. Have to say: Better days when we had keys.

My ex's 4Runner would do that from time to time.

Did you ever get a resolution to this? Mine reset twice this weekend, it's the only time I've had it happen. I'm thinking it had something to do with an update.

I’ve had mine in twice for it. Two new radios put in and now this last one is doing it. So now that is 3 radios. They always check updates first but it’s never that. Wears me out

Here is the problem that I was having with the head unit. Mine would freeze up especially with the navigation and and most times with the radio. I have had it replaced once. The last time I brought it in one of the techs suggested that I clear my contacts from my iPhone on my radio, something to do with not having the latest update on my phone. I figured that he didn't know WTF he was talking about. Weeeeel, guess what, in the last 3 months I have not had the first problem with the radio or navigation. I have not updated my phone yet nor had my contacts back on my radio. I thought the tech was full of shit at first but no problems since. A few days before I brought it in it locked up 3 times in 4 days. Go figure, maybe he was right.

Thank you! I will do this tomorrow. I was planning on shutting down my Bluetooth or phone tomorrow while I was driving it to see if that helped but I’ll try your fix first.

UPDATE: you was right. I uninstalled my phone and reinstalled it but didn’t let my contact list upload and I didn’t have any problems at all today! It was rebooting 2 times every 2 minutes before I done it. THANKS

Maybe that tech was right. I plan on not putting my contacts back in for another few months AND updating my phone. Hope it works!
