find somebody that you know who is a cop and have them write it off. that is a completely stupid ticket, because most choppers, muscle cars are all or usually run open headers, and i don't hear of them getting ticket. i guess the cop was bored.

not sure in CA but here in NM just take the ticket to court with the receipt of the new muffler installed or pictures of how you fixed it. and well obviously i have pictures of how i "fixed it" haha

haha no shit man those are they guys that got the city ordinance approved now every one has to pay for it.

and as far as the cop bein bored i agree i wasnt haullin ass i was goin 35mph and at that speed its like i dont even have an aftermarket muffler its like it turns off haha.

but he said he could hear it loud and clear and could tell i had a moded exhaust because of my duel tips it was total bs

Highway Partol or Sheriffs substation or the agency that wrote the ticket is the only way to get it signed off. And there is a cost involved when you send the ticket back.
Unless you get a lazy cop who won't go outside and check it out you will have to quiet it down.

Im running Flowmaster 50's with no rear cats. The Ticket said it was specificly for Modidfied exhaust not the loudness 90dbs is the loudest you can have it if anyone was wondering

and my front tint or no licence plate in the front bumper

I have to fix it and take it to CHP (california highway patrol) or someone to sign it off

I was thinking about going to see my buddy down at Toyota have him print me a receipt for the exhaust making as if I bought a TRD exhaust straight from factory there for is isn't minified from factory.
Thats the plan so far let me know what you guys think

Dont go without the cats, if they inspect and see them missing, its a minimum $1000 fine IIRC. Coming from honda's, this used to happen to my friends all the time.

Most of these officers are pretty cool and wont care about the cats if you give them respect, but its not worth paying out the nose on the fine.

How I imagine this stop going....

Cop : Do you know why I pulled you over?
OP : No, was I speeding or something?
Cop : No, your truck seems louder than normal, Have you modified the exhaust system?
OP : Just put a flowmaster muffle on it, thats all.
    Cop : Be right back
    OP : <wtf.... be right back means 5 minutes!!!!>
Cop : Here is your ticket, I wrote you up for modified exhaust, which you said your self has been done, Have a nice day...

Either that or you got pulled over for something else and somehow managed to piss the cop off so he wrote that up.

When I was a teenager, I used to drive around with my windows down stereo bumpin. I had a portable CD walk man cd player to a cheap 350 watt amp into some pioneer 6x9s. Cop pulled me over and said, "I pulled you over because your music is loud, do you have an amplifier in your car?" to which I replied yes, and got an amplified sound ticket. If I had kept my mouth shut and asked him exactly how many decibels over the limit I was, he would have had to make a number up and prove it.

I was pulled over with a friend driving for modified exhaust. He asked the cop the decibel level and the cop busted out a meter, measured it, and was right at 90 decibels at 2500rpm. We talked to the cop a bit about the meters and how they were starting to implement them and he let us go.

Right on, that's the cool thing about sound. some things sound loud but aren't high on the meter, while other things down sound as loud and measure way up!

Just be careful, when the inspected my friends car (trying to BAR his car after engine swap) the dude doing the inspection for the sheriff even knew the vacuum line routing. They know a lot more that we think, lol. Just wanted to give you a heads up before you get a fine.

Cops in Ca will need to measure your exhaust noise with a decibel meter to prove it was modified or loud. The officer will also have to know what constitutes modified. Is the cop an expert on what the stock exhaust looks or sounds like? Just an officers opinion it was too loud or modified won't hold up in court, I would contest it and ask the cop these questions in court.

Sounds like a quota day kinda thing. You've gotta be careful the last week of the month around here, probably 80-90% of all the speed traps I've seen this year around LAX have been after the 26th of the month.

As far as the exhaust goes, having the cats removed will be a problem if they ever look at it. Under CA law, everything behind the cats just has to meet noise limits (on cars, anyway - there doesn't appear to be any semblance of enforcement on cruiser bikes even in OC), but if you touch anything in front of that you'd better have a CARB number or they may try to drop the hammer on you.
