I have a prolink and if you try to center it on the fairlead with the line pulling from left or right, it’ll eventually slide across the fairlead to where the rope is. Try to center the rope on the drum if you’re trying to center the prolink.

Also, is it brand new rope? Could be stretching under tension too?

This^^^ When I first spooled my line, on level pavement I hook up to something, put the truck in neutral, and spool in using the weight of the truck for tension.

Yes, it is brand new. I tensioned it by pulling a Tahoe up my driveway (it's inclined), so around 5-6k lbs of tension after I free-spooled 10 wraps like the instructions said to do.

I'll pull it back out and try to get it centered and see if that helps.

Ive got a pro link as well and synth.
I've never wrapped my line under heavy load.
I half wrap it around my torso and
I wear a super heavy welding glove and wrap it around it once.

My hand is about 2 ft away and I lean my body out away from the vehicle.
Probably putting about 100 lbs of tension or more on the rope.

Always making sure the pro link ends up in the middle of the fairlead. Snug it up and it's never came loose.

I tensioned the line properly, I think because it is off center is why the Prolink won't stay tight against the fairlead.

Speaking of winches, how do you guys have your control boxes mounted? Right now mine is on the winch, but with it there I can't raise the bumper up all the way. Eddy already trimmed the grill support, but its still not quite enough. Brad said he had it mounted near the battery, and there are two open bolt holes there that I thought I might be able to get a long u-bolt or something into, then just try to kinda stretch it out to get the box to fit over it. Any other (better ) ideas?

Last one I installed was a smittybilt and mounted it over the motor, wouldn't fit directly over the reel.

Is this too far back? When it was a little further forward the shackle slid all the way down to the u-bolts and was clattering around pretty good.
