Teaching at a college level is a quick way for immigrants to make it to the top job wise or whatever. Colleges are desperate for professors so they get what they can.

Actually, I think back in 02 the demand here locally just wasn't with 4WD. Why there are so many damned prerunner's here in bay area. But yes, see what you mean. Even today, I see so many prerunner models. Its crazy and I can't help but laugh a little. Knowing what I know now and where the thing could go - pfft, hands-down 4WD Tacoma nothing less.

It's an old saying but you don't have to be a good teacher to teach at a college level. It's all about how well you know your subject which unfortunately for the students isn't the whole equation

We just don't see em in the PNW usually. They were around but rarer than 4wd. If people are gonna cheap out they get a 5 lug if they're gonna get a truck to do truck things it ends up being a 4x4 because most of the states see terrible winter weather. AZ there are tons of pre runners, and still not many pre runner friendly trails haha

This right here. Most of my instructors for my course come from the job field Im going into. Very knowledgeable and very good at explaining things, and can get me the hook up for a career in a year. Now, the instructors who teach the gen ed classes on the other hand, are horrible at their job. Yes, theyre smart, but absolutely cant present the info in a way that gets across to most people.

On the end of course review for my sociology class, I wrote "Been a great class, but I honestly still dont understand the point behind sociology. Seems like the concepts can be split between Psych and Humanities for the most part."

No, you're right - I leave the bay area and say head towards tahoe or towards socal along I5, all 4WD tacos. I'ts here in the Bay Area, you see lots of prerunners - at least I still do. I see a nice shiny new taco and its 2WD, I think

I learned so much sales from that dealership. Not really even sales. Just how to listen and be a decent person. The best 'salespeople' are the ones that you can tell really listen to you and care about your purchase decision. It's not hard, well I guess it is

Same here but thanks to the overlanding trend I've noticed a lot more 4x4's in the LA and surrounding area since 3rd gens came into the picture. Almost every 3rd gen I see is a TRD 4x4 OR or Sport, but almost every 1st or 2nd gen is a Prerunner or 5 lug

yeah I got the same spiel from dealerships a few years ago when I was looking for my Tacoma, "you don't need 4x4 here" "you'll have a hell of a time finding one here" "the Prerunner is just as capable"

It always cracks me up when people on here ask for pre runner friendly trails. They're already marked on any street map haha, and most FS roads are fine too if there's little elevation change. Then they say, well the race trucks are 2wd... Of course race trucks race on race tracks, and have huge tires, massive travel, and enough horsepower to make a semi truck look weak, but other than that... yeah they're 100% the same. But the prerunner in v6 form does make for the easiest 4x4 conversion in any vehicle I know of which is awesome.

I'm not going to knock it obviously since I own one - then again, I remember seeing this and said to myself, never again - next one is going to be 4WD. still love my truck though. its become my hobby/project and I'm having fun working it up.

My dad sold cars for 35 years before starting his businesses and so I grew up on car lots and with all sorts of sales info and watched lots of salesmen try to sell haha. It's a healthy mix of a lot of things to sell effectively. Moving Toyotas and Hondas might actually be some of the toughest work because the buyers are typically a lot more tight with their money.

I know what you mean, my first Tacoma was a '99 Prerunner back in 2004 and I loved that truck...it's the whole reason I'm back in a 1st gen today. Back then TW wasn't around but I was pretty active on Yotatech and just like TW, everyone there had a 4x4 and I quickly started wishing I had gotten one (had no clue at the time that I would be interested in it). I put a lunchbox locker in the back of it since it wasn't a TRD and had a lot of fun in that truck, eventually had to sell it for something more practical when I went away to college. Fast forward to 2016 I knew I had to get a 4wd this time...and little did I know then how much more freakin expensive this hobby was going to get with a front drivetrain

honestly, have to ask - you ever regret not moving into a 2nd gen vs the Radiant Red bad ass? If I wasn't going to buy new and had to look at a used tacoma, I would go with 2nd gen. Bigger engine, cabin air filter (yeah, I'm a germ/dirt freak), more space in the back, bed options - just more over the 1st.

yeah I was initially looking at 2nd gens but I just couldn't afford a used 4x4 one at the time with under 100k miles on it, the prices were crazy (still are generally). I love my truck but the lack of a decent back seat is an issue, not so much now but when we have a kid it certainly will be. Gonna have to get a commuter car that's car seat friendly lol.

I ended up spending more than I wanted to on this truck but I couldn't pass it up when it came up on my feed with 24k miles on it
