If I wanted to tow that heavy, I would have bought an F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Would never try what you are suggesting.

Agreed. That is pushing it, even with a 150. Safety aspect increases with speed. People here expect to tow 6400 lbs at 80mph which is unsafe. At much lower speeds it would be acceptable imo. Maybe 40mph on a rural road max ?

If you think the Tacoma does the job pretty well, then you have never pulled a trailer with a full size truck.
OP, this is the exact reason I got a Tundra. The Tacoma is a great truck... until you tow up next to the limit. It is not happy doing it, you are not happy and neither is the line of traffic behind you.

I don't think the question is about weight as much as it is about towing two trailers at once......

If you can barely move with your setup shouldn’t that answer your question?

Yes, I get that, and use them myself. I think his point is that he wants to tandem tow. I wouldn't do that in any non-commercial light duty truck.

The Tacoma will pull moderate loads just fine. That said, what you are proposing is a really bad idea. It is legal in a few states to pull tandem trailers (usually 5th wheel camper + ball hitch boat). Every single time I see setups like this, the pull vehicle is at minimum a 3/4 ton or more likely a 1 ton HD gas or a diesel truck. These pickups have the perfect combination of parts to make this possible. Lot's of low end torque, big brakes, heavy duty frames, and the trucks themselves weigh A LOT. Also the trailers have braking systems. It's not what you can yank down the road, it's how the 'rig' handles the weight and how it STOPS. I think the Tacoma is a fine pickup, if I didn't I would not of just bought one, but it is NOT the vehicle for what you want to do.

Keep in mind that besides the questionable capacity and safety of tandem towing, it's very likely that every Barney Fife or Buford T. Justice that sees you is going to hassle you.

Never tried multiple trailers but I agree with others as I'm towing a loaded construction trailer on occasion and you have to stay focused. Towing with my son's F150 I don't even know the trailer is there. I have a brake controller. Trailer is weighing in around 6,000# loaded.

I wonder if the OP was posing a serious question or not. I'm being nice when I say this; it's a stupid thing to even try what they suggest.

I tow 5600 on the regular, but just to the ramp about 30 miles away on Arizona flat roads. Not sure, I would if I lived in the hills.

I recently towed for the first time and it was a clamshell sled trailer with 2 sleds on it and I definitely felt it. My gas mileage was about 12 and I didnt tow very far. I'd estimate it was probably less than 4000lbs but it felt a lot heavier. I wouldn't want to make a habit out of it.

Used to tow a 4000 lbs boat with my old 1997 F-150.. Definitely felt it on braking with no trailer brake. Haven't done it with the Tacoma but would agree with others on here about towing heavy loads with the Taco.

I'm gonna vote not just no, but hell no.

    Two considerations not mentioned:

A)You are proposing pulling a 20 foot boat plus trailer in tandem with a 17-22 foot camper, with a 17.6 foot tacoma. Youre gonna have a blast when you pull up to the gas pumps with that road train.

    B) I have not heard of any bumper pull trailer on the market that can handle a hitch plus 200 pounds tongue weight on its ass end. Adding 200 pounds on the back of a camper is removing somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 pounds from the tongue. Take an average 3000 pound camper, and that 120 pound subtraction from the tongue spells the difference between safe and fatal.

If you want to take the boat camping, I suggest shopping for a truck camper.

Good grief, you posted on and on about how great the 3.5l is, towed so great all over the Appalachians, HP is awesome, don't need torque. You did a 180 pretty quick.

That's the point, the Tacoma is NOT a full size truck, don't expect it to be!!!

It's a mid-size, and tow pretty well for a mid size! you can't compare to a full size, it's like comparing an apple with a orange...

It is, but it does not tow 6K+ well at all. I pulled many a trailer at that weight with my Tacoma. My only point is a full size tows much better over 6K.

its not going to do it. Period. Not on 33.5" tires. Even without the lift and tires I would say no go.
