I recently ordered a lift from Headstrong, and was so pleased with the help from Marie that I asked her to marry me and She declined!!

    Kidding of course.

Im in a 2013 DCLB 4x4 and the previous owner has a spacer lift on it :annoyed:

    I went with:
Bilstein 6112 front (on the 4th notch) (Still considering 5th)
    Bilstein RCD 5100 rear
    OME Dakar Med Leaf packs
    Front Diff Drop kit
    3 degree shims
    and all the necessary hardware.

Should be shipping tomorrow, can't wait to get this lift on and test. Pics will come

Again, I just wanted to thank Marie at Headstrong for answering my numerous questions and helping out so much.

I did the same with a waitress once. She declined too. So she got a sand dollar for a tip.

That ought to have taught her

I did get the 1/4 inch spacer for the driver side. Also got the 6112s on the 4th notch. And you're actually the second person to tell me not to use the drop kit. Any particular reason why? I keep hearing that even lf its not needed. It wouldn't hurt

drops the differential lower on an angle and easy to damage it by something hitting it

Even with the front skid plate? I mean if my CV angles aren't bad I won't throw it on, but on my 4Runner, it DEF needed it.

I have it on mine too and have read many debates of it. Nothing yet that has convinced me to remove it since I paid for it and took the time to install it. I bought it, along with my upper and lower control arms, directly from (literally in person) total chaos and they never said anything about not needing or not to install it. They have a rock solid reputation in the industry and wouldn’t think they’d steer me in the wrong direction. It would be easy to remove but someone would really have to give me some pretty convincing evidence as to why it s so bad.

@NYCTaco52 I have the exact same truck, 2013 dclb. I have the 6112 on the 4th notch with 1/4" top hat spacer and medium dakar leafs in the rear only I have the 5160's instead of the 5100s. I found that I will be moving up to the 1/2 spacer because the 1/4" was just not quite there to even the taco lean. You wont need the front diff drop and most likely you wont need the shims but you will need the carrier bearing drop. With that the shims should not be necessary and you shouldn't have any vibes.

Ive heard some pretty mixed reviews about TCs Upper control arms on the 4Runner forums. But the lowers are epic. Ive decided to go with JBA Uppers because of the price, reviews, and the extreme ease of replacing the ball joints. I don't wheel enough to need Uni's.

But well said. Theres a lot of companies that say it wouldn't hurt to have the drop kit on, esp since its only a 1 inch drop.

With the spacer lift on it now, I installed the bearing drop kit in and it actually made my vibrations worse, but at different speeds than before. I believe the last owner had a 2 inch block in the rear. So my plan is to measure the angles of the driveshaft when everything is installed and go from there. I honestly hope I won't even have to use the shims.

I almost went with the 5160s, but my issue is the Dakar adds 2.5 inches, and Bilstein and everyone else keeps saying that because the 5160s are only rated to 1.5, id have issues with over extending the shocks and premature wear.

Also the 5160s are backordered nationwide for months :rain:

True but that was the first generation 5160's. The second generation ones added a 1/2" of extension and it actually has the EXACT numbers of the ome rear shocks that are made for the Dakars. I do wheel with it and I have had 0 problems. I also have JBA uca's as well. They are awesome!

I may just move up to the 5160s later down the line, Im poor now (thanks headstrong!)
But I know the first gen JBAs had some issues, but everything new has issues. Im glad they corrected them as any great family owned company would.

The only thing I’ve seen and read is someone hit the front diff mount on a rock and it broke. since the spacer basically lowered the mount it put it in a spot where it’s vunerable. I’d think under those conditions anything is susceptible to carniage. Rocks definitely are unforgiving.

As for you wife be honest!!! What’s done is done just ask for forgiveness. When she finds out the truth on the cost (and she will) the you’ll have to beg for forgiveness all over again. Bite the bullet and just get it over with.

We should throw rocks at those rocks...

But seriously, wouldnt that have happened to him without the drop kit, since its only a 1 inch difference?
