I’d mount them on the outer sides of the frame rails, rotated 180° from the position you have them in now.
    That’s where I have mine.

    got a photo?

I called Fox today and sent them the photo above and stated that I wasn't able to mount the resi in the suggested location due to the resi hose would get clipped by the tires. I told them I would remount it in the suggested location, take a photo of the hose to tire ratio and then wait for a reply...

I was finally able to install the Fox 2.5 front and rear I got last month. Front needs to come down about an 1” on each side. After myself and some friends trying we could not adjust the preload. We lubed the crap out of the coilovers and were only able to move the drivers side about a 1/4 of a turn. Anyone have luck with the spring compressors you can attach while the coilovers are on the truck? I’m not 100% sure but it looks like the collar might have jumped a thread or two on the drivers side. Not the best pictures since they were taken at night.

@Daddy_Firebird I just installed my 2.5s on my 2018 TRDOR. I got the standard travel and was aiming for 2" of lift. I installed them with .87" of thread showing on preload as they came from fox. This didnt get me any lift. Started at 21" and didnt see any impact. pulled them off and tried to adjust to add another 1/2" of preload..the drivers side wasnt too bad using the spanner wrench and vise with 2 people. The passenger size seized up. We had to reinstall and use a rubber mallet + spanner wrench + 5/6 punch to get the additional 2 turns. Hitting the spanner with the dead hammer got us what we needed but it wasnt easy. I hear the spring compressors you can rent will not work on 2.5s so this is what we were left with in terms if options.

We did run into a larger issue when the hose fitting from the reservoir into the main shock body let a little oil out. Probably about 5cc before we were able to tighten the fitting. Hoping that this isnt a huge issue. No nitrogen escaped as it was oil from within the hose. Anyone have any experience with this? Do I need to send it in for service? Really was a small amount of fluid and the shock is still making it to full extension.i havent put many miles on it yet but will see how it feels and check functionality of the dsc. I will call fox monday

I think what I’m going to do is remove them and take them to my mechanic to adjust the preload. Don’t want to force adjusting them on the truck. Good luck with everything brotha!

@Rjparnow bummed that you ran into trouble but glad you were finally able to get the coils adjusted. 5 cc's isn't much as far as the oil goes. If you're still at 200psi nitrogen you are good to go.

You, steve and I should go for a ride one of these evenings.

@RangerComa your words of wisdom during the install came in clutch. Hoping the oil spill isnt a big deal but no idea where I can get the nitrogen pressure checked. Do you have the standard travel coil overs? Seems strange that I am at 1-1/8 preload and barely have 1" of lift from stock.

Yes. Let's ride soon. Days are long and weather is great. Thanks man

Fox told me that the standard travel 2.5" remote res coil overs could be modified to the extended travel version by removing a shim from inside the shock body. Does anyone have experience with this?

I didnt get the lift I was looking for with the standard travel and now I'm at 1 3/8" preload and they are riding pretty harsh. Wondering if removing them shim would allow me to get the 2" of lift and reduce the harshness.

    Any advice would be awesome.

    Thanks

Removing the internal spacer will not improve your ride quality. It will simply allow for more droop travel.

@Rjparnow please measure top of top hat to center of lower eyelet at ride height and report back. Thanks!

@*TRD* I measured both the ride height under load @ 22" from center of axle to base of fender with 1 3/8 preload, and also the distance at full droop which comes out to 25". I spoke to one of your colleagues on the phone and he told me that if its reaching 25" it should not be an issue with the UCA at max extension or the shock topping out. Hopefully the roughness I'm feeling is just that I'm now running stiffer suspension from my stock bilstiens. Fox also mentioned that they have metal to metal contact points where bilsteins have rubber to metal contact points which leads to the fox's having more feedback. let me know if you have any other thoughts. If I am running too much preload i'm considering buying 1/2" spacers and reducing preload. Not sure though. Shouldn't have to do this with high quality shocks.

Anyone else have issues wearing out other parts after installing stiffer coilovers? My lower control arm bushings are worn out at 28k... I thought the ride was stiff but this is making me think it's a bit excessive. I am running the 2.5 DSC coilovers with "street tune" and 650 lb coils. Wondering if I need to change valving or springs, or just get some different coilovers. Doesn't seem like LCA's should wear out this quickly.

Thanks @St.Germain! And yeah @PvilleJohn my rear disc conversion ran about 1200 iirc with lines, brackets, the caliper bracket, and the caliper with new pads from SOS performance. I also did theaster cylinder upgrade and to say I highly recommend it would be an understatement. You have to push REALLY hard with the stock MC to get decent braking after the conversion and the pedal will be at the floor all the time, where going with the larger Sequoia MC you have no such issues with the additional fluid movement it puts out. The MC is a no brainer at 100 for the install kit and between 75 and 160 bucks for a reman up to BNIB aisin mc, respectively.

Shit.. i hope no one else is experiencing this. I just installed the same coilovers with Eibach 14" 650 springs. Personally i don't think the ride is too stiff. Did you remove your sway bar? How much preload do you have on each coilover?

This is very true! Back in the 80's I lived off 15th and Magnolia and there were alleys everywhere in my hood. Your post brought back some great memories. Thank you sir!

I still have my swaybar, 5/8” thread showing on drivers side and 1/2” on passenger side, which is around 2” of preload on my 14” coils. As far as added weight, I have sliders and a hidden winch. Going to install Total Chaos LCA’s and see how it feels after that.
