Well I hope. The rope I’m using is rated for 600 pounds or something like that.

Just a thought here, but if youre concerned about weight, maybe having 2 smaller racks could suffice. Or, weld something up that has wheels and sits on the floor.

I dont believe he knows how to weld 100% yet

he should just use something like this for the frame - shelves removable or adapt them to meet his needs

With a shelf like that you could hang the horns from the shelf above

The reason I built it the way I did is because it’s height adjustable, it’s easy to get all parts of the horn when I can adjust the height like it is now.

I was debating building a wooden ‘A’ frame on wheels, but then storage and space become an issue.

I’m going to keep the current design, but this time I’m going to suspend it from Unistrut with 4” lag bolts through the ceiling joists. Right now I’m just hanging it with a Quick-Link from two holes in the angle iron for my garage opener, which can withstand the weight — but not in a shear load like I have.

Exactly this. The height adjustment allows me to walk under the horns and reach the inner portions of the rack and paint under the horns, and when I lower it I’m able to paint above the horns. This way I’m able to get full paint coverage versus a stationary shelf or rack.

The concern is I don’t trust it. I don’t know how that angle iron is handling all that weight. Sure it works fine, and it has been working fine. But I don’t want it to fall on me or someone else one day.

I can weld just fine. It’s welding on my truck or an expensive bumper I paid way too much for I don’t trust myself yet.

For something thats only purpose is to paint horns, my ugly welding will do perfectly fine.

Just buy the drawings and have some Chinese kids make the horns for you.

What Tyler should really do is just product development and marketing. Outsource production to China, outsource customer service to India. Get the manuals printed in 18 different languages and offer a 1 year warranty, but only if you pay extra.

I don’t think he’s worried about his rack but more of what he’s hanging it from.

    Could be wrong though

    Yay globalism!

Once he gets the Amazon deal, I imagine there wont be a need for his marketing skills. He'll just recieve checks quarterly from amazon cause his name is still tied to the company. Easy money.
