Sometimes they ride all the way up and pop off the top. Just trying to prevent that and I have used bigger zips on those. I experimented with all purpose grease on one side and open gear lube( all I had) on other and gear lube held out much better . I will probably try clamp. Which is why I was considering a little hole higher up on boot to add some white lith or something. Or lower for drainage. Probably over thinking shit but I can’t help it sometimes.:notsure:

I came home from work one day to find a stocking cap on my living room floor. I remember thinking why is my hat on the floor? I picked up the hat and my dog had hidden a mouse that he had been playing with under the hat, it was still barely alive. Will never forget that.

Chipmunks are every where around my house. They live in my firewood for the most part, which is away from house. They do like to try and burrow under my lavender plants. Can’t have that

Bait them away from your house. And old landlord of mine told me that when I mentioned mice and what I’ve been doing. Especially near where food is. A redirection is better

Guess I still dont understand. The boots are riding up? My have always fallen down. The picture shows my final solution after zipties also failed.

There is (at least on mine) a little ridge thing on the bottom of the piston rod, right above where it bolts to the truck. The lower, narrow end of the boot slides over this ridge (with some force and a little grease) and kind of 'snaps' into place. That retains the lower side in place

The only way I'd be able to do it would be to put bait down on the lower lot; with the grain buckets for the chickens and the ducks/goose rodents are a fact of life. That's why I've got bait buckets in the garage and the shed; that's where most of them meet their end. But this past fall we had a massive influx into the house (I had two snap traps and they were both full every morning for close to a month, in addition to what the cats were killing), so I had to go nuclear and put a couple packages of d-con in the attic and I set more snap traps, too. Seems like we mostly wiped them out, finally, so I'm hoping that this spring the problem isn't as bad.

I see . A completely different scenario from apartment living. You did the right thing. Years ago in a different apartment I was killing 20 or so a week . Sometimes I will set up a snap trap with peanut butter on it sit down and watch TV and literally minutes later it will go off. Absolutely ridiculous. I have a house now and have a minimum issue with rodents . Chipmunks are my worst problem

I don’t think I can pull those boots down that far on my Bilstein 5100. In a little while I will be poking underneath my truck to check on my exhaust .I will look at the boots then and take a pic . I do like what you did on that though

Yeah, until this year the bait buckets and the cat were more than keeping pace with the ones that we did get. But for some reason last fall the population just absolutely exploded.

Nobody would know I'd won. At least until I didn't show up to work, and disappeared because I'd moved into a cabin on a secluded lake in the North Woods, with a bunch of land and everything I needed for an off-grid hobby farm.

The only place I've ever gotten them is my attic. Probably caught 40 last winter. I figured out they were getting into the attic through the garage, so I blocked off that access a lot better with wire netting and steel wool this fall. Only got two all winter this year, and it was right at the start so I suspect they made it in before I sealed it off.

    Happy birthday, Noel!

I have kids, so they need to graduate high school first, then I would be in the middle of a large plot of land.

Speaking of middle of the woods. I saw a show last night called Dual Survival, and there were a couple guys that pretended to be lost in North Maine Woods. I am not sure how others feel, but they were a few miles from the coast, not sure I would call that North Maine Woods.
