Bang for the buck speakers - 90w rms

I've had a nice little system cooking in my 2015 Access Cab:

Alpine Power Pack bridged to 2 channels under the dash

An old set of Eclipse Point Source SP5700 5x7 with the tweeters placed separate up in the doors.

Totally content with it, but the speakers were getting old and one of the mid bass drivers finally gave out.

Can you recommend a new, modern component set to replace my old ones?
Would love to hear from someone who is also using a bridged power pack, no rear speakers and no sub.

Luckily you’ve got 6x9’s up front so that will keep some good mid-bass to help with no sub.

I’ve used the alpine type S and the jbl clubs and the kicker CS with power packs bridged, no rears. Of those 3, I like the jbl the most. But lots of options I haven’t used in that configuration.

Installed and ready to go. Haven’t given them a good listen yet but not bad right out of the gate.

These came with plastic baffles for the 6x9s. They have tabs that can be broken off to fit the specific car you have. I was going to use them but when I was breaking the tabs I actually broke the whole thing.

As you can see, i re-used the MDF baffles from the previous 5x7 (after some jigsaw action). It was a hassle but I’m better off with these I’m sure.

 

I miss Eclipse stuff. Brings me back to my high school days when I saved up enough for a single 12" Eclipse Aluminum subwoofer.

 

was it difficult to fit the Alpine Type S in the front?

 

Not really. You’ll need a way to get the tweeter mounted in the factory location. I think Metra makes some brackets that fit and you just cut a hole for your tweeter. Pretty simple.

The power pack is a pretty sweet little amp!! As far as sub $200 components, def these! Crutchfield has had the previous model integrated components for awhile and it's hard to beat that price. I think they include adapters too if you buy from them.

How are your speakers holding up?

I'm thinking of changing out my 2nd gen non-jbl factory speakers for something like these and adding a 2 or 4 channel amp like the JL RD400/4. Curious to know if you're happy with the sound and if you think they were a worthwhile upgrade?

 

Ive been very happy with the speakers. I have no interest in changing anything. I’m about 98% satellite radio and it sounds excellent. The Alpine amp (bridged) was the ticket for me. Minimal wiring hassles and it’s stuck inside the dash on top of the radio.
