everything at walmart has an added tax of actually having to go into an actual walmart.

You can get full synthetic (5 qts.) plus oil filter from Advanced Auto on their monthly deals for $32. Usually Mobil 1, Valvoline, etc. .oil filter is usually Purolator, Mobil 1 Or K&N.

It's a great deal. Royal Purple with filter is $42ish usually also. Only way to buy! Every month is different. Usually Valvoline and Mobil is one month and the next is Castrol and Pennzoil.

Serious question - if I never bring the car into the Toyota Dealer for ToyotaCare, will anything bad happen? I really dont want the Techs touching her.

Just do your own maintenance if you are able, it will be fine.

I understand the oil changes, but don't they know what to look at if there is a problem with a certain Tacoma?
I am curious about this Blackstone company, can you give me a link or explain Vbpiper

they analyze your oil. certain problems will usually leave residues or deposits in the oil. Whatever they find in the oil will tell you some things about the engine and what not and potential problems or current problems that need to be addressed.

Ah yes.....the ol' "don't use Fram filters" thing. It always comes up in the 400 oil threads a week that TW has.

Everybody always knows someone whose brother's, cousin's Mustang blew up using a Fram filter....or some version of that story.

Been using Frams for years on all manner of family and extended family's vehicles. That includes both spin-ons and cartridge types. Never an issue of any kind.

For those of you who hang out on Bobistheoilguy site...you know that the Fram Ultra Gaurd is regarded as one of the best oil filters you can buy. I use either M1 or the Ultra....whichever is on sale.
